10 reasons to return to an oppressive, dead religion that preaches a gospel that cannot save.

It appears that the Catholic church is continuing to resort to marketing schemes to draw people back to the oppressive, dead religion of Rome.

It was only a few weeks ago that I posted a video highlighting this new trend and–if you thought it was only an isolated incident–I submit for your consideration another example of this Roman Catholic pragmatic approach to church growth found over at A Little Leaven where Chris Rosebrough aptly introduces the video by saying

If you know your Bible this video will give you several more reasons to not return to Rome.

Personally, I think for their number one reason they should have cited Proverbs 26:11

Like a dog that returns to its vomit is a fool who repeats his folly.

  1. Pathetic. If this is the fare the RC religion can dish out to try to entice us black sheep to return to mama Rome, they better go back to the drawing board.

And then I will ask, what was missing in the video? Anyone say gospel? Gospel, what is that replies Rome? Oh the gospel, well, we might have that somewhere, wait, let me get back to you on that one. Well no worry sir or ma’am and please do not trouble yourself with such Protestant ideas, just get yourself back to Rome and all will be well because we are the true church and as long as you are warming one of our pews, you are on your way to heaven. What could be better than that?

  2. Low budget, cheesy music, people who can’t read their cue cards with any semblance of sincerity. And those were their 10 best reasons? Pathetic is right.

  3. I have one reason not to go into catholicism and that is all I need. Jesus is not there; “no man comes unto the Father except through me” Our only saviour JESUS!!!!

  4. “We in the Catholic church miss you… sometimes we have to back up the car and try again… sometimes we really miss you!”

    Sorry, couldn’t resist.

“successive line of popes… blah-blah-blah…” Old, dead, WRONG.

I’m surprised Mary wasn’t mentioned. The only mention of Jesus Christ was not in terms of the Gospel that saves… but as the ‘wafer-god’, re-sacrificed every week.

    Yuck!

You previous comment was removed because you are clearly not here for discussion but to argue. Your latest comment proves it.

I will allow this comment to remain as a testament to everyone how a Roman Catholic of your caliber “defends” his false mother church (e.g. name calling), and so that people will better understand why no future comments of yours will ever see the light of day.

  6. Just because this is cheesy, low budget or for whatever reason you might not like it, it does not diminish the vitality and importance of salvation offered by the Catholic Church.

Just like that the efficacy of sacraments is not affected by the holiness or sinfulness of the priest performing it, so does the Catholic Church’s efficacy and truth in salvation does not diminish by such things as these. As someone who might publicly attest to Jesus suddenly is shown corrupt does not mean that Jesus was a liar.

I am just grateful that people are trying to communicate in whatever way they can, reasons to be in the Catholic Church, and I am saddened that so many will for such little things debase such a great Body that for two thousand years has cradled, nurtured and protected the faith coming from Jesus Christ.

And sorry if I have a follow up comment, pardon me Moderator, it’s just many might construe my saying in my previous comment “salvation offered by the Catholic Church” as not coming from Jesus Christ, it is so easy to think of it that way for people who do not have an understanding of the Catholic Church.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church will explain this idea better – that everything [including salvation offered] IN the Catholic Church comes from Jesus Christ. Now this and all that is in the Catholic Church is attested by our brothers in the Orthodox Churches, as well as in similar statements held by our brothers in the Anglican, Lutheran, Methodist, and Reformed Churches.

Instead of fighting why not pray for Christian unity? Unlike many I do not memorize lines in the Bible but I do remember Jesus saying something about how it hurts the Church when disunity occurs. Not the least the image we project to other faiths.

Thank you moderator if you do approve this second, and long, comment.

  7. Aaron L.,

The problem is that true biblical salvation is NOT offered by the Catholic Church. The only thing they can offer is no hope and false teachings that is nothing more than the old revitalized system of worship that descended from the ancient Nimrod.

And the efficacy of the sacraments is non-existent. There is nothing in baptism or the taking of communion that saves a person.

As for your final statement, sadly it shows a lack of true knowledge of church history. The Catholic Church only became what it is after Constantine decided to mix a little of Christianity with alot of pagan idolatry to pacify the masses. Constantine was the first pope of the church because he did not want anybody else to be in power. He baptized all his soldiers after seeing a vision caused probably by eating too much spaghetti or Roman-style pizza. They went down dry, depraved sinners and came up wet, depraved sinners still on their way to hell.

Read Foxe’s Book of Martyrs and see the true accounts of what the unholy Roman harlot did to true believers who placed their faith in Jesus Christ ALONE by grace ALONE through faith ALONE.

No, my friend, you have been duped by an organization that has gorged herself on the blood of true believers and every time “mass” is held seeks to cannibalize the Lord Jesus Christ.

May I highly recommend you read the Scriptures for yourself. Become a Berean and pray that the Lord will truly open your eyes to the glorious truths in His Word. Salvation is through Christ alone and NOT the Roman system of idolatry.

  8. Awwwww, that’s so sweet!! They really think they’re going to win us over with something that stupid!!!! I grew up a Roman Catholic (thankfully I haven’t been one for almost 10 years!!) 2 schoolmates opened my spiritual eyes to The Truth and this Truth does NOT exist in the RCC…. They rely on prayers to the “Queen of Heaven”, Mary, who is NOTHING like the BIBLICAL Mary; if it were possible, I’m sure she’s turning in her grave, sick to her stomach, wondering why she is receiving all this praise, when she did NOTHING at all for our Salvation; on the contrary: Luke 1:46-47And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. Why would she call GOD her Saviour, if she was conceived immaculately(without Original Sin) , per RCC doctrine?? Prayers to Saints (specially privileged Catholics who “perform miracles”)?? Really? Doesn’t the NT say that we are all saints? And seriously, when they take communion, the wafer contains the flesh, blood, soul & DIVINITY of the Lord?? I thought cannibalism was found in underdeveloped, almost primitive cultures?? There are so many things wrong with the RCC, that it’s not even funny….
