According to the latest issue of World Magazine, Rajan Zed was invited by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D – NV) to open the senate in “prayer.” Reid, said of Zed “I think it speaks well of our country that someone representing the faith of about a billion people comes here and can speak in communication with our heavenly Father regarding peace.”
Reid obviously must have forgotten that the vast majority of those billion practitioners of the Hindu faith don’t live in this country.
I wonder if Senator Reid, a Mormon, quoted his prophet Joseph Smith when Smith said “My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join. No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right–and which I should join. I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong, and the personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in His sight: that those professors were all corrupt; that “they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me; they teach for doctrines the commandments of men: having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.” (History of the Church)
When ZED approached the microphone to give the “prayer” he was repeatedly interrupted by Christians (who were subsequently arrested for unlawful conduct).
I honestly don’t know what the fuss is all about. After watching this video, I came to two conclusions and have addressed them to both faiths below:
To the Hindus: Why all the fuss? Don’t be upset because some well-meaning Christians stood up for the one true Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ., the only name under Heaven given to men by which we must be saved. Before you ridicule and criticize them for doing this, just remember that in India and other parts of the world, Christians are murdered by Hindus just for being Christians. Fortunately for you, most Americans (and most Christians) are oblivious to this fact.
To the Christians: Why all the fuss? We’ve removed God from every facet of our country; that having a Hindu prayer delivered during the opening of the Senate is just the end result of this nation’s rebellion before God. I hate to suggest this, but it’s possible that God’s glory has departed from our country long ago. I might even go so far as to say it was when we legalized the murder of unborn infants, in which 40 million have been slaughtered since doing so became “a choice.” How can we keep crying out for God to bless this country when it is as wicked as those countries run by Hindus? We need to quit asking for God to bless America and begin demanding that America bless God.
