These are two great clips from the recent Joel Osteen interview on 60 minutes. The interviewer asks some challenging questions that Christians should be asking!

  1. Glad to have ya back, Pilgrim!

Oy! It’s a good thing I’m going to the dentist the Friday. My teeth are starting to rot from all that ear candy 🙂

My wife and I were in a “Christian” bookstore last might–one I used to really enjoy going to–and what did I find staring me in the face? Joel, TD, Brian McLaren. DVD’s of “Evan Almighty.” The Jerusalem Bible (a Catholic Bible). I about had to vomit. Needless to say, I don’t think I’ll be going back there anytime soon.

  2. There were two things Osteen stated with which I agree.

    1. (-2:50) When asked about not mentioning God or Christ, he states “That’s just my message.” I agree that his message has nothing to do with God nor our Lord Jesus Christ.

    2. (-2:23) Osteen states there are others that are better qualified at explaining the Scriptures and that he doesn’t believe that’s his gift. I agree that he knows very little about the Scripture, and that he has no use of it in what he does.

While I believe Joel Osteen is a false teacher to the order of 1 Timothy 4:1, to those who don’t, I ask: How is it that you are not convicted to turn away from the teaching of a man of whom the above two points are true?

  3. Glad to be back. Thanks for the warm reception.

I too visited several Christian book & paraphernalia stores while I was out of town. And I too saw some sad things.

I will blog about it soon.
