I know I’ll take a lot of heat for this one, but perhaps the young evangelicals in this video should be spending more time evangelizing the lost than worrying about the environment.
Here’s three reasons why:
1. Christians were never commanded to save the environment of the planet; we were commanded to save the people of the planet. (Matthew 28:18-20).
2. We know how it all ends. God showed us a glimpse in the book of Revelation. Your time would be much better spent on sharing the Gospel with those perishing (see number 1).
3. The human soul is more valuable to God than a forest. (No one burning forever in Hell is going to care how many spotted owls you saved).
Professing to be wise they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures . . . For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator…
I agree. People are growing too focused on the environment. I feel that we are called to be good stewards of the earth, but it’s impossible to reverse what’s going on, as much as environmentalists, people in the UN & people like Al Gore are saying. Shouldn’t Christians be focused on the gospel of Christ instead of being focused on “going green?” A lot of what is going on, like increase of natural disasters, famine, pestilence, etc., are part of Biblical prophecy concerning the end times. There will be an increase of these events, I feel, before the rapture & something tells me that flaming hail, rivers of blood, the sun burning 1/3 of the earth’s vegetation, during the tribulation will be good for the environment. The only time when things will be restored is when Christ returns in all His glory with the armies of heaven & raptured believers to defeat the Anti-Christ & establish His millenial kingdom.
There was something I heard on the news, that certain members of the Emergent Church could care less if the next president is concerned about the decline of morality, persecution of Christians, the homosexuals demanding rights to teach their perverted ways to children at school, Islam gaining special rights, so long as he/she cares about the environment. There are countless people a day being damned to hell for eternity & people who claim to be Christians are concerned about saving the trees & animal rights, instead of helping those in need (widows, orphans, the poor) & sharing with them the Gospel, as Christ commanded us to do.

Can’t someone be concerned with sharing the gospel AND with the environment? Absolutely! Maybe if there were more Christians who actually cared about the planet we wouldn’t look like hypocrites in the eyes of the world, “Christians say they care about people but only if they can convert us.” If trying to help the environment is a sin, then what’s next? But when helping the environment becomes the main thing then the environment becomes an idol and then it IS sin.
Hmmm…I wonder how many opportunities this will open up when they start working side by side with all the liberals and if the liberals would be more willing to listen to the Gospel from someone who cares. My only prayer is that they will share the true Gospel unashamedly.

I found this post a real eye-opener. When did social justice and environmental issues become more important than salvation and the Great Commission? What a sad state “the Church” is in.
