It’s interesting that this should be posted. I’m being baptized on Sunday & one of the guys being baptized with me was raised a Lutheran & was baptized as an infant. We certainly agreed that just because you were raised in a Christian home, doesn’t mean that you stay a Christian.
As an example, I used the story of my mom’s brother & his wife. He was raised in a Christian home & I believe she was, too. He went to a Christian college (Wheaton), but after college, he got involved in a cult, The Way International, which is where he met his wife. They married, still in the cult, but instead of preaching at them, as my grandparents did, my parents, particularly my dad, discussed the true gospel, as opposed to the one of the Way, in a humble, loving way & enventually, thanks to the Lord working on them through my parents, they eventually left & have returned to the TRUE Jesus Christ. This happened years before I was born, so I was quite surprised, given their personalities & their simple faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ, when I found out that they met in a cult.

Love this definition. That puts the emerging church as a cult – not a Christian alternative. 🙂
