so true, in fact, persecution helps the church body grow. it is through our trials and tribulations that help strengthen us. It is then that we see we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us!
Very good & very true quote. In fact, just that past Sun. evening, at church, we had a sermon on Acts 8.
Take a look at the church in Christian-persecuting countries like North Korea & China, God is drawing people to Him, in countries where you never would expect Him to. Our brothers & sisters over in those countries are fully aware that they could very well be executed for their faith in Christ, yet they are boldly proclaiming the Gospel!
In contrast, these prosperity preachers, here in the U.S. with their sales of “prayer cloths” & “holy water”, are getting people to think like Simon the sorcerer, in Acts 8: that God’s power can be bought like & sold like shares on the stock market. Yet, I think then of Peter’s harsh rebuke to Simon in Acts 8: 20-23:
“Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.”
