Your Mormon Quote of the Day.

At that great gathering Adam offered sacrifices on an altar built for the purpose. A remnant of that very altar remained on the spot down through the ages. On May 19, 1838, Joseph Smith and a number of his associates stood on the remainder of the pile of stones at a place called Spring Hill, Daviess County, Missouri.

  1. Being a new Member of the LDS family learning these little facts makes intrigues my mind, and actually gets me in the good quad. Shocking to someone who doesn’t know it all maybe, so thank you… Its really amazing however to think that Adam and Eve were in the states. One of my longest running questions before becoming a sister was, “why doesn’t the bible talk about our country?”

  2. Rachelle:

Thank you so much for your comment, and so very much for your candor.

I have read up on Mormonism for many years. Much of what I’ve looked into has been their earlier/original writings, not so much the newer, polished, revised, and sanitized take on their old teachings. I wanted to know what the LDS church historically taught. So I used e-bay to procure some old LDS stuff. It wasn’t pretty.

Such things as their views on blacks, their Adam-was-God doctrine, their doctrine on Blood Atonement, and the list went on and on.

I recommend that those curious about Mormonism’s doctrines look into the early writings. Find out for yourself what Joseph Smith and Brigham Young really taught and believed. You may be shocked at what you find.

However, my better recommendation is to put down all your LDS books and read only the Bible (as these folks did). I guarantee you’ll have a much better understanding of God, His Son, and holy Scriptures if you do this.

Oh, and one last thing. See the picture above of the Mormon statue depicting Adam and Eve at the alter? Notice something contrary to Scripture? Fruit on the alter and the lamb next to the alter. According to Genesis Abel’s offering (blood sacrifice) was accepted, but Cain’s offering (fruit) was rejected (See Genesis 4).

    Sincerely,
    – Pilgrim
