While Todd Bentley is sharing his false visions in Florida, it might be a good time to catch this two-part video series exposing the signs and wonders movement.
Amen, Doreen. And let us not forget, the evidence of the Antichrist will be the ability to perform “signs and wonders”
Revelation 13:11-14–“11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. 12 And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. 14 And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived.”
Today, I watched the video, in awe even though I came from the ranks of the charismatic/Pentecostal commotion, some years ago. I have seen bewildered people believe that they were actually restored to health from disease and illness, from the WOF, and the so-called false Miracle Signs /Wonder Healing Movement. I do comprehend that my sovereign Lord can mend if he so desires or wills it. However, I have seen years in and years out in which numerous false gurus that would pronounce healing(s) over sheep that were waiting a scalping through gimmicks and monetary trickery. I witnessed a real kicker, whereas an associate sage actually poured two flasks of water over a man and he declared that his sins were washed away and his healing had just been provided. Needless to say, this man was whiskey drunk, no repentance, no scripture, and no confession of sins. This poor inebriated soul stumbled in and could barely stand, and only goodness knows where he thought he might have been? With men and women jumping all over the joint convulsing, bright lights and loud contemporary music blaring, perhaps he could have thought that he was at the Dew Drop Inn, waiting for two container of cold brew? How sad! My heart physically breaks for these people. You look at their flocks and their elderly in which have thick glasses, walkers, canes and hearing aids much like the congregations which follow the truth. Once being caught into this trap by experience, I believe that over-zealousness for the Lord with the lack of true doctrinal training, and the lack of guidance from a true anointed belief system allows these poor souls vulnerability with totally openness to these guru night-stalking vultures.
Please forgive me; however, I get aggravated when the meek and weak are being taken to the laundry by perfidious and rapacious gold-digging wolves. I truly appreciate the work that you guys do to help others, I know God will bless you all for your hard work and caring. Good news, some people are awakening to this type of scam and are leaving these dens of sins in droves, but some are being hurt emotionally and physically and being inoculated from seeking the truth and may never seek the truth again; “Once bitten twice shy.”
So many times we focus on the big fish (Benny, Kenny, Creflo, Jesse) that we tend to forget there are many more out there who operate out of little store-front “churches” who do just as much damage. How many of these people, who think they’re getting healing and who are following a false Christ promoted by these hucksters, will spend eternity crying out for mercy because they were so fooled.
I cannot thank my God enough for not allowing me to get swept away in that filth, burather followed the true light of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Lord who allows us to be sick, who allows us to suffer, who allows so many of His saints to die at the hands of evil men–the name of Jesus being the last word on their lips.
1st Corinthians 14:24, 25, 40–“23 Therefore if the whole church comes together in one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those who are uninformed or unbelievers, will they not say that you are out of your mind? 24 But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in, he is convinced by all, he is convicted by all. 25 And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed; and so, falling down on his face, he will worship God and report that God is truly among you…40 Let all things be done decently, and in order.”
How I wish my family would listen to these videos with open hearts and minds. But, alas, it will just make them angry and I will be told by them that I am blaspheming the Holy Spirit by denying His power to work in people’s lives. This stuff gets so engrained that just bringing up the possibility that they could be wrong is enough to sever our relationship or at least cool it off considerably. I just don’t know how to reach them. I pray God opens their eyes soon. Just don’t know how much more I should push them on this issue. Praying for God’s wisdom on what more to say or send them. I love my family, but they think I am just a legalistic, judgmental fundamentalist.
One approach I have used is to ask your relatives if they believe if the Word of God is the truth or not, if so present scripture. Usually, when someone wants to argue, I just provide scripture and ask them to read it for themselves, whereas some have a problem or anger with God. Most charismatic followers don’t really believe that Jesus truly is sovereign and saves, without them first adding their two cents; by wanting to be demi-god by adding dead works into their belief…
Another problem with the charismatic/Pentecost rank is that they have more faith in signs and wonders than God’s Word. Their lack of true doctrine or their twisting changes true doctrine to Pentecostal-charismatic vernacular, to meet their agenda, which is prime-time for them. I listen to Mr. Mike Murdock two weekends ago, and I was almost floored when I heard him say that the Holy Spirit alone was the creator of the heavens and the universe; somehow he missed ‘Colossians 1:16 Christ himself is the Creator who made everything in heaven and earth, the things we can see and the things we can’t; the spirit world with its kings and kingdoms, its rulers and authorities; all were made by Christ for his own use and glory’. However, what is sad his television congregation were clapping and amending to his every false word. You can tell how much they study the Word…..
I talked to my wife today concerning the charismatic ranks and how they believe in the “Sign and Wonder Movement and WOF.” They believe in all of the signs and wonder but what is funny they can’t produce a one accept their false tongues. You know in 1 Corinthians 13:8-10, all gifts ended about 70AD with the death of the apostles; ‘8. All the special gifts and powers from God will someday come to an end, but love goes on forever. Someday prophecy, and speaking in unknown languages, and special knowledge–these gifts will disappear. 9. Now we know so little, even with our special gifts, and the preaching of those most gifted is still so poor. 10. But when we have been made perfect and complete, then the need for these inadequate special gifts will come to an end, and they will disappear.’ When is the last time that they have raised the dead, casted out real demons or truly healed the sick? It is because they are brainwashed and not really believe in doctrine, just hocus-pocus.
Rose, all you can do is to pray to a sovereign God and asked for their eyes to be opened. As much as it hurts, the fight does not belong to us, but only God’s Will shall prevail.
Thank you for your good counsel. You said: “They have more faith in signs and wonders than in God’s Word.” That is so true. I have been accused of worshipping the Bible and ignoring the Holy Spirit. I will keep praying!
I cam accross these videos independently of this site while investigating Todd Bentley and think they should be required viewing for all Christians especially those of a charasmatic/pentecostal leaning to ensure they are not deceived or are unknowingly guilty of propagating a deception
My wife was caught up in this. It took several years of patience and prayer, but she now sees the wolves for what they are. The truth is there for all that are willing to look; the problem is that people don’t want to look, they would rather believe the lie. I was once like that too. Looking at where I came from, it is amazing to me just how good God is to us.
In response to the Anti-Christ deceiving with signs and wonders. If the “Anti”-Christ deceives with signs and wonders, it must be true that Christ presents truth in the same manner. Furthermore, the Anti-Christ is empowered with the devil’s kingdomly resources. We are empowered with the resources of our Kingdom. Therefore, we have the ability and right as citizens of the Kingdom of God to release signs and wonders too.
Jerret-
This isn’t about Christ and His power, this is about a false move of demonic power which claims to be of God. I would refer you back to the post by fourpointer, and the passages he quoted concerning the Anti-Christ and his signs and wonders.
You have the ability and right to release signs and wonders? Where would I find this right in the Bible?
The Anti-christ is empowered by Satan himself; could you explain what kingdomly resources means, and how are we empowered with resources from our kingdom? Where would I find this teaching in God’s word?
I came up against a charismatic Pentecostal just last night, she claims when her son was younger, he almost drowned. BUT, she laid hands on him and told God he couldn’t have him, and right after that her son started coughing up water and recovered…I find it amazing a mere mortal thinks they have the right to tell a sovereign and powerful God what he can and can’t do.
I would have no problem with signs and wonders if an authentic Gospel message was being proclaimed. Unfortunately, with the modern signs and wonders movement, this is not the case.
Do I believe that miracles can still happen? Yes I do.
I have yet to see though, where any of the modern “apostles” or “prophets” have fead a few thousand people with a few pieces of bread and a few fish sticks. I do see these “apostles” and “prophets” feeding themselves with the money they have swindled from the poor and desparate.
Even with the Apostles, signs and wonders were not a common occurrence.
If these were truly men of God, healing with the power of the Holy Spirit, instead of standing on a stage, bringing in millions of dollars, they would be in hospitals, going from room to room healing for no fee whatsoever. The Apostles did not get rich from healing, and Jesus did not get rich from healing. I heard a preacher on the radio the other day say that there is a difference between Divine Healing and divine healers. This preacher believed in The Divine Healer only. As do I.
Just because there are false prophets and false teachers and false “healing’s” that doesn’t mean we through them ALL out. We test the spirits. We ask God for discernment.
After watching these videos, and knowing as I do about the signs and wonders movement, I know this will not convince them that this is not of God.
Rather than the false prophets and everything else they stand for, what about self deception?
False prophets can be exposed, but how do you expose someone to themself?
Mark 13v9, ‘But watch out for yourselves…’
Mark 13v33, ‘Take heed, watch and pray, for you do not know when the time is.’
vs 34, …and commanded the doorkeeper to watch.’
vs 35, ‘Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming…’
vs 37, ‘And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!’
Do you think Jesus was trying to tell us something?
The word watch was used in different ways in Mark 13, but with the same meaning, to be alert.
We cannot accept every last thing someone says because they say they are a Christian and carry a Bible in their hand.
Test all things we are told in 1 Thess 5v21.
1 John 4v1 tells us to test the spirits.
When these people are put to the test, they fail miserably.
