Another Jehovah’s Witness, another senseless death.

This time it’s a twenty-two year-old mother who died after giving birth to twins. Read the story here. Also see this related post on the Watchtower’s murder of a fourteen year-old boy.

  1. For Bible-based reasons, Jehovah’s Witnesses refuse blood transfusions.*(see the Bible texts below) But they do accept—and vigorously pursue—medical alternatives to blood. ”

“…but to write them to abstain from things polluted by idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood.” Acts 15:20

“For the holy spirit and we ourselves have favored adding no further burden to YOU, except these necessary things, 29 to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication. If YOU carefully keep yourselves from these things, YOU will prosper. Good health to YOU!” Acts 15:28,29

“‘And YOU must not eat any blood in any places where YOU dwell, whether that of fowl or that of beast. Any soul who eats any blood, that soul must be cut off from his people.’”Leviticus 7:26,27

‘Bloodless surgery is not only for Jehovah’s Witnesses but for all patients. I think that every doctor should be engaged in it.’—Dr. Joachim Boldt, professor of anesthesiology, Ludwigshafen, Germany.

“While blood transfusions are safer today than in the past, they still pose risks, including immune reactions and contracting hepatitis or sexually transmitted diseases.”—Dr. Terrence J. Sacchi, clinical assistant professor of medicine.

“Most physicians have knee-jerk reactions with transfusions and just give them out liberally and indiscriminately. I don’t.”—Dr. Alex Zapolanski, director of cardiac surgery at the San Francisco Heart Institute.

“I don’t see any conventional abdominal operation that in a normal patient routinely requires blood transfusion.”—Dr. Johannes Scheele, professor of surgery, Jena, Germany.

  2. Tell that to these two children who are now growing up without a mother!

For “bible-based” reasons the Catholic church burned people at the stake. For “bible-based” reasons the Mormons practiced Blood Atonement. For “bible-based” reasons 900 people at Jonestown drank the Kool-Aid.

A better explanation would be “for man’s fallible and faulty misinterpretation and selfish reasons” all these awful things happened in the name of God and they continue to happen in the Watchtower organization today.
