Does your bookstore carry this man’s material?

Some people may wonder, “Why do you guys worry so much about what bookstores are selling? So they sell TD Jakes’ books. What’s wrong with that? A lot of people like TD Jakes!” So, what IS wrong with TD Jakes? (Actually, the easier question to answer is “What ISN’T wrong with him?)

Here are a few quote, courtesy of Symphony of Scripture:

“And God said, ‘Let us. Let usssssss…’” says Jakes, and then digresses: “…One God, but manifest in…three different ways, Father in creation, Son in redemption, Holy Spirit in regeneration.” (“Spirit Raiser,” Time Magazine, September 17, 2001)

“My brothers and sisters the power of life and death is in the tongue. You can have whatever you say.” (Intermission of “The Bone Collector Part II,” TBN, August 12, 2004)

“You’re entitled to have wellness in your body. Stop begging for what you’re entitled to.” (T. D. Jakes, “God Never Meant For You To Lose,” TBN, July 29, 2004)

“You gotta speak to stuff or it won’t change. Are you following what I’m saying?” (“The Bone Collector Part II,” TBN, August 12, 2004)

“I want to challenge you to sow and come into agreement with me. I believe you don’t have to go for it, you can sow for it! And God will bring it to pass in your life. I want you to write me, put in your prayer request and sow a special seed. Believe God for supernatural resurrection harvest in your life!” (“Heirs of The Promise I,” After the sermon T. D. Jakes said this while in the studio, March 21, 2005)

“His holiness, John Paul II was truly a dedicated and courageous messenger of God. His legacy will be a model that all of us should follow. His Holiness was not only a leader of the church, but also a leader of the world. His life was an example everyone can learn from. His mission to spread the Good News of faith throughout the world, and his dedication to human rights was an inspiration.” (“Bishop T. D. Jakes Statement on The Passing of Pope John Paul II”)

Well, I guess other than the fact that he is a Word-of-Faith, Name-It-And-Claim-It Prosperity huckster who denies the deity of Christ while glorifying a pope who dedicated his life to glorifying the Virgin Mary over Christ–I guess he’s not such a bad guy 😉

  1. Y’know, I was 16 when I first heard of Oneness theology. I’m almost 18 now, and I have always seen it as a sort of schizophrenic theology – God can’t quite make up his mind whether He is the Father one minute, His own Son the next or the Spirit next time round…heresy at its most confusing, methinks

  2. T.D. Jakes & his oneness theology is no doubt heresy. However, this weekend, it was written in the Christian Post: “T.D. Jakes Calls Christians Back to the Bible” Jakes can call “Christians back to the Bible”, but those who are discerning when they read it, will realize that Jakes is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

  3. Funny, I was in the Christian bookstore today, and there are about 7 books at the top of the shelf by him.

  4. Well, unfortunately, it seems that many Christian bookstores don’t really practice spiritual discernment. Now I’m sure most wouldn’t go as far as to distribute writings by Jehovah’s Witnesses or Mormons, but I’m sure they take many of these Emergent Church “pastors” (as an example) for their word & sell their stuff without realizing the apostasy they’re allowing to be sold.

  5. Actually, I should probably say “some” rather than “many.” I’m not saying that these people who own these stores aren’t born again, but some fail to practice discernment & weigh what some of these “pastors” say against what the Bible says.

  6. Greetings to all,

I agree with you guys; especially Douglass concerning Oneness’ schizophrenic theology.

Oneness belief actually baffles me? My wife and I, just two nights ago discussed Mr. TD Jakes and the Oneness heretics. I can’t understand why some people believe it? I believe Jesus at Gethsemane, prayed that the Father might remove this cup from me; nevertheless allow your will Father to be done. So, was Jesus praying to himself? And when he instructed the disciples to pray the Lord’s Prayer, then why didn’t he say, “Our Father-Lord that mostly resides in heaven but now that stands on earth before you?” Let us not forget, “Forgive them Father they know not what they do.” By their standard and belief Jesus would have been in flesh as a human and in flesh as of a dove at the same time; when the Holy Spirit came upon him; I would love to hear their explanation concerning that topic; you would probably need boots? Oh yeah that’s the ticket and if one believes all of this one can easily believe that Popeye was a sissy…….

My concern is not just the bookstores that are buying, (for the public), this tripe for their shelves but the gullible and foolish souls that are paying good money to buy demon enriched garbage….. I had one Pentecostal lady that tried to defend their none-scriptural belief by saying that they believe in the trinity even though it is just different! No kidding; different, how about twisted? Don’t other cults sometimes say the same thing? Needless to say, some sects of Oneness also pile on more heresy claiming that one must speak in mumbo-jumbo false tongues or one is not saved……. They have two or three other beliefs, which one is whereas some sages and mystic gurus will not allow or want outsiders, one must go to their church, and everybody else is going to hell; basic isolationist. To show you the apostasy that’s going wild, Mr. Jakes and his entourage (gang) have preached in various Baptist churches. Just last year, he was invited for a three day revival at Mr. Ed Young and Jr.’s church, Dallas Texas, I believe late February 2007. What has happened to the SBC, which sanctioned this? Last year, I caught my 86 year old Baptist mother-in-law watching Jakes, I whispered in her ear that he was Oneness and that he doesn’t believe in the Trinity; she looked like she saw a ghost…. Out of ignorance and being fooled by TBN she was deceived.

I better end this on a cheerful note; I wouldn’t want to say anything negative.

    Jesus is Lord
