Sadly, I am afraid that this clip does more than ruffle feathers – it would be declared as anathema in many so-called evangelical churches.
There are many so-called ministers of the gospel who have forgotten (or maybe they never really knew) what the gospel is all about! As Paul stated, it is the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
But why?? All because the wrath of Almighty God the Father had to be laid upon Someone. Somebody had to pay the debt that was owed for sinning against a holy and righteous God. It is because He is loving that He gave His Only Begotten Son to come into the world, but NOT JUST FOR ANYBODY! He came into the world to save sinners, and so that WHOSOEVER BELIEVES ON HIM WILL HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE!!!
Yes, the world will scoff and many who claim to know Christ will mock at the message proclaimed by Paul Washer, but he was right in that the human heart left to itself apart from the grace of God has just as much potential to mass murder as did the heart of Hitler, Stalin, Saddam, and Bin Laden!
I am certain that many will find the comment about the young child disconcerting, but the truth is that a child left to itself will only assert its own sinful, totally depraved nature against not only his or her parents, but eventually in anger will gnash their teeth against the very God who created them and allowed them the privilege of breathing His air on His world that He created!
Would child psychologists be in agreement with Paul Washer? Nope! But then again, they don’t have to answer to Paul Washer, The Pilgrim, or The Desert Pastor, they will answer to the Almighty God, Creator of Heaven and Earth.
I care not one iota for whether child shrinks are in agreement for I care only what God’s Word proclaims. The truth has been laid bare –
1. ALL HAVE SINNED – this includes 18 month old babies! – Romans 3:23
2. ALL ARE TOTALLY DEPRAVED – includes ALL ages! – Psalm 51
3. No baby is ever taught to sin!
4. From the womb, they come forth speaking lies – Psalm 58:3
5. Christ came to save sinners of whom we could all claim to be chief just as the apostle Paul did.
6. ALL will perish who do not come to the place of repentance and in humility seek forgiveness for their wicked, debauched deeds AND thoughts against the Holy One of Israel!
7. The grace of God saved a wretch like me and He can do the same for you! However, you will only come to Him on His terms, NEVER yours!!
Thankful for the Grace of God,
The Desert Pastor

If we’re all Hitler’s in our heart without Jesus, shouldn’t that mean there should be more murder in the world than there is?
Your video has some nice points but doesn’t ring true.

madmonq,
That’s the point he’s making. It is only by the restraining hand of God that everybody in the world isn’t worse than Hitler.
But you can trust me on this much: During the tribulation, there will come one who will make Hitler look like a choir boy.

If more people would listen all the way through, instead of just taking parts out and twisting it to say what they want it to say there wouldn’t be the misunderstanding of what is being said! All of us do have the same heart that Hitler has but it’s God’s grace that keeps the world from being any worse then what it is! It’s God’s grace that kept Hitler from being worse then what he was!
By the way, not everyone is without Jesus!

That is some powerful preaching! Just a comment, though, concerning the slide show that accompanies it. A comment, not a negative criticism: I do not doubt the statement that “some of you, in your 60s, 70s, and 80s, heard preaching like this all the time when you were younger…” What I do doubt is that any of the men at the True Discipleship Conference actually heard Spurgeon preach.
Oh, well – maybe they couldn’t find a picture of Lester Roloff or Vance Havner.

Greetings Madmong,
This video is on the mark; after World War II, and during the Nazis trials at Nuremburg Germany, a peculiar thing happened….. During a recess period one of the participating Jewish witnesses of some atrocities physically cried, outside of the courthouse. Upon being ask by reporters, “Sir, why are you crying”? This gentleman of Jewish heritage replied, “I am broken hearted because I could see myself doing the same things, which the Nazis did”. He was basically awed by their lust and desire for such power. He was coveting their power and he knew it was sinful and ungodly. Madmong, this same depravity in which we were born with, which is what the Lord is holding back, for now.
Jesus is Lord

Unless you can cite a book or website I’ll consider this story an urban legend. Sort of like the story of Einstein and the Atheist professor.

If god were interested he/she or it would’ve never let this or anything like it happen. What you guys are saying is: we should be grateful that God doesn’t allow it to happen more often.
If he/she/it does exist, they can be more immediately proven by the conspicuous absence of mercy, not his/her or it’s abundant demonstration of. There has been more of one over the other.

I love Paul Washer because in the midst of this day in which we live, we need to have an awakening as to who God is. He is right that we have an incorrect vision of God. It will take an eternity to know Him. He is right about repenting even after we are saved. He does not say that Christians aren’t carnal, he says they may fall into carnality but they will eventually go into deep repentance because it is not okay to live as a carnal Christian. If you have no problem thinking carnality is wrong, perhaps your conversion was not actual. If you are like the prodigal and wake up and say “What was I thinking”. God awaits with open arms. We need to get clean and stay clean through repentance daily because we are so sinful. If we stay clean through confessing our sins to Jesus, then we will not live carnally, or at least stay carnal.
Some say it is a works gospel. I think it is a gospel that admonishes us to die daily and live in Him. That IS scriptural. I think it is a gospel we NEED to hear again. God is not always going to tolerate our foolishness because He is righteous, but is long suffering to usward not willing that any shall perish. When it is time to “lower the gavel” there will be no time left in which to buy our white robes.
We need a clear call to massive repentance and a call to Holiness, or else we will be like the foolish virgins. We need a two by four in between our eyes. I like the way Paul Waher delivers the two by four. Wake up people!
