And you thought the last one was bad? Laodicea would be a strong, vibrant, Christ-honoring body of believers today compared to what we are seeing taking place throughout so-called evangelicalism.
While this short post is not about whether it is sinful for a Christian to get a tattoo, there is certainly some consideration that must be given to when and why this is done. The depths of man-centered tripe that some “pastors” lead their people through. If anyone gets a tat or anything else thinking it brings them closer to God, they are in the same boat as Roman Catholics who think they must “fill up the suffering of Christ Jesus” by torturing themselves in myriad ways.
I do not, as I once did, think tattoos are categorically sinful, although I still don’t like them one bit. Discrete tattoos are one thing. Outrageous tattoos intended for public viewing are another; all the more so if someone claims Christian virtue therein.
May God have mercy.

Modesty in ones appearance Is a Christian virtue and not just in church. This is not restricted to grooming and removable attire. We need to move with changing fashion standards. Going Amish is bit to far in the other direction. We must maintain standards without becoming absurd and legalistic.
What’s next in these churches, see through attire to display your otherwise hidden tattoos and piercings. The ten commandments on your chest perhaps. I better stop.

It is very sad to see tattooed women in church. Tattoos across the upper chest area and wearing low-cut shirts to reveal the tattoo (drawing eyes of those around her to her private parts), tattoos on limbs from shoulder to wrist, tattoos on area below back of head, REALLY? Since when are we given permission to tattoo the temple of the Holy Spirit? Did God give permission to Israel to mark up the exterior of the temple with scripture, pictures of family members, favorite flower? How can one be united to this? Next we will see more and more shrapnel on the body. The world is IN and modesty is OUT.
