spurgeon-pic.jpg When we preach Christ crucified, we have no reason to stammer, or stutter, or hesitate, or apologize; there is nothing in the gospel of which we have any cause to be ashamed.

Become a Better Ewe!

better-ewe.png I simply couldn’t pass this up. Check out the complete post from the October 20th entry on Steve Camp’s blog Camp On This.

“If you do not seek God because you believe Him to be supremely valuable,
then you are a hypocrite. To seek God for any reason other
than His own glory as Creator, Lord and Savior is to be a hypocrite.
It is the reason that the health and wealth gospel
is not simply a deficient view of the gospel,
but actually “another gospel” and will lead people to hell.”
-Pastor John Swanson,
River Hills Community Church

ryle.jpg   Young men, “Flee from sexual immorality” (1 Corinthians 6:18) if you love life. “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient” (Ephesians 5:6). Flee from the opportunity of it–from the company of those who might draw you into it–from the places where you might be tempted to do it. . . . Flee from talking about it. It is one of the things that ought not even be hinted about in conversation. You cannot even touch black grease without getting your hands dirty. Flee from the thoughts of it; resist them, destroy them, pray against them–make any sacrifice rather than give way to them. Imagination is the hotbed where this sin is too often hatched. Guard your thoughts, and there will be little fear about your actions.

When Jesus is mocked by those who claim to be His.

Community “Christian Church” in Illinois who produced the Homeboy Jesus video and the Baseball Jesus video, (for what reason I do not know), has once again produced more garbage in the name of Christianity.

Jesus Goes Shopping:

Mocking prayer:

How this church and others like it view evangelism:

These videos are the fruit of this church and they reveal just how low their view of God really is.

You know, men claiming to be “Christians” have attempted to lower Jesus Christ’s deity down to that of us sinful creatures for centuries. We normally identify them as: apostate, heretic, cultist, etc.

Judgment will begin in the House of God. It will be swift and severe for those who mock the very Savior who shed His precious blood to redeem mankind. If the Apostle Paul were alive today he would surely rebuke the “church” that produced these videos. Of course he would have to because anyone else that tried to would be labeled “closed-minded” and “judgmental.”

Inevitably someone will see nothing wrong with these videos. Charles Spurgeon addressed this type of entertaining the sheep in this quote, but I doubt he could barely imagine the mockery and blasphemy associated with such “entertainment.”

So what does God’s Word say about false teachers?

I found this great post on Pulpit Pimps.

Here are some of the same things God says about false teachers:

• They are ravenous wolves (Matthew 7:15-16)
• They are practicers of lawlessness (Matthew 7:22-23)
• They are hypocrites ( Matt 15:7-9)
• They are thieves (John 10:1)
• They are slaves of their own appetites (Romans 16:18)
• They are men of flesh (1 Cor 3:1-4)
• They are peddlers of the word of Christ(2 Cor 2:17)
• They are accursed (Galatians 1:6-8)
• They are tricksters and schemers (Ephesians 4:14)
• They are deluders (Ephesians 4:14)
• They are deceivers (Colossians 2:8)
• They are defrauders (Colossians 2:18-19)
• They are teachers of strange doctrine (1 Timothy 1:3)
• They are blasphemers, and have been handed over to Satan (1 Timothy 1:19-20)
• They are teachers of myth (2 Timothy 4:3-4)
• They are paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons (1 Timothy 4:1-3)
• They are liars (1 Timothy 4:1-3)
• They are conceited and understand nothing (1 Timothy 6:3-4)
• They have gone astray (1 Timothy 6:20-21)
• They are evil men, deceiving and being deceived (2 Timothy 3:13)
• They are empty talkers, after sordid gain (Titus 1:10-11)
• They turn away from the truth (Titus 1:13-14)
• They are false prophets, false teachers, greedy exploiters (2 Peter 2:1-4)
• They are stains and blemishes, greedy, loving of wages of unrighteuosness (2 Peter 2:13-15)
• They are slaves of corruption (2 Peter 2:19-20)
• They are ungodly (Jude 4)
• They are rebellious people (Isaiah 30:9)

spurgeon-pic.jpg Avoid a sugared gospel as you would shun sugar of lead. Seek the gospel which rips up and tears and cuts and wounds and hacks and even kills, for that is the gospel that makes us alive again.

Quotes (38)

ryle.jpg The violation of the seventh commandment is the sin above all others, that, as Hosea says, “takes away the understanding” (Hosea 4:11). It is the sin that leaves deeper scars upon the soul than any other sin that a man can commit. It is a sin that destroys thousands of young men in every age, and has even overthrown a few of the saints of God in the past. Samson and David are fearful proofs. It is the sin that a man dares to smile at, and smooths over using the terms: thrills, love, uncontrollable passions, and natural desires. But it is the sin that the devil rejoices over, for he is the “unclean spirit;” and it is the sin that God abhors, and declares He “will judge” (Hebrews 13:4).

“1914: The Generation that will not pass away.” Oops, the Jehovah’s Witnesses were wrong again.

One of the last known remaining members of the generation of 1914 that Jehovah’s Witnesses claimed would “not pass away” has died at age 109.

But fear not. As in usual fashion, the Watchtower Organization has changed their stance (a.k.a. “new light”) on what they said previously (a tactic Mormons employ very well themselves). Read more about it by clicking here.
