ryle.jpg Instruction and advice and commands will profit little, unless they are backed up by the pattern of your own life. Your children will never believe you are in earnest, and really wish them to obey you, so long as your actions contradict your counsel. Archbishop Tillotson made a wise remark when he said, “To give children good instruction, and a bad example, is but beckoning to them with the head to show them the way to Heaven, while we take them by the hand and lead them in the way to Hell.”

Bible Reference Notes: “The Holy Scriptures”

Bible Pulpit I’ve decided to begin a new series of posts on DefCon called Bible Reference Notes. The idea of this project is to publish a post containing a list of numerous Bible verses on a selected subject–broken down into subcategories–all designed for the sole purpose of quick reference.

Here’s how it works:

Step 1: Simply select and copy the below Bible Reference Notes.

Step 2: Paste the text onto whatever word document you use.

Step 3: Make sure everything lines up correctly (or how you would like it) on your word document since transfers from one format to another sometimes requires adjustments of the text layout.

Step 4: Print the text on your printer.

Step 5: Cut to size and adhere to the inside cover of your Bible. Keep in mind that Bibles come in all different sizes and shapes so you may want to increase or decrease the size of the font depending on how much room you have. The current font size setting is 7.

Now with this inside your Bible cover, you can use it as a quick reference when dealing with that particular topic. I will make more Bible Reference Notes available to you as I put them together.

The first post in this series will be on the topic of Scripture itself. More often than not, Scripture’s inerrancy, clarity, perspicuity, origin, and purpose are called into question (many times by those who profess to be Christians). So today’s Bible Reference Notes are a great resource to have when dealing with the topic of the Bible’s inspiration, endurance, what it is, what it does, etc.

If this is helpful to you or you find any errors, please leave me a comment.

May this bless you and strengthen you in your Pilgrimage and remember, Never Compromise!

Quotes (201)

john-macarthur.jpg Controversy and conflict in the church are never to be relished or engaged in without sufficient cause. But in every generation, the battle for the truth has proved ultimately unavoidable, because the enemies of truth are relentless. Truth is always under assault. And it is actually a sin not to fight when vital truths are under attack. That is true even though fighting sometimes results in conflict within the visible community of professing Christians. In fact, whenever the enemies of gospel truth succeed in infiltrating the church, faithful believers are obliged to take the battle to them even there. That is certainly the case today, as it has been since apostolic times.

Sermon of the week: “Unmasking the Pope and the Catholic System” by John MacArthur.

http://uninews.com/blog/?p=63

Every Wednesday  I post the sermon of the week. After hearing this message I could barely wait till Wednesday to share this one with you.

This week’s sermon is an absolute must-hear. It is entitled Unmasking the Pope and the Catholic System by John MacArthur. It is–hands down–the best message I’ve ever heard on Roman Catholicism . . . bar none.

Even if you have a minimal interest in understanding what Roman Catholicism is about, or no interest at all, I expect this sermon will change that. I also encourage those Roman Catholics who read this blog (I know you’re out there) to seriously listen to this. If you have the truth, then you have nothing to fear.

I’ll be moving this sermon into my “Top Ten” favorites.

Click on the link to listen streaming, or right click on the link and click “Save As” (Internet Explorer) or “Save Link As” (Mozilla) to save to your computer. From there you can burn this to a CD or upload it to your MP3 player.

If interested, you can read the transcript of this message here.

Quotes (199)

tozer.jpg To most people God is an inference, not a reality. He is a deduction from evidence which they consider adequate; but He remains personally unknown to the individual. “He must be,” they say, “therefore we believe He is.” Others do not go even so far as this; they know of Him only by hearsay. They have never bothered to think the matter out for themselves, but have heard about Him from others, and have put belief in Him into the back of their minds along with the various odds and ends that make up their total creed. . . . These notions about God are many and varied, but they who hold them have one thing in common: they do not know God in personal experience. The possibility of intimate acquaintance with Him has not entered their minds. . . . Christians, to be sure, go further than this, at least in theory. . . . This is admitted, I say, in theory, but for millions of Christians, nevertheless, God is no more real that He is to the non-Christian. They go through life trying to love an ideal and be loyal to a mere principle.

Quotes (198)

spurgeon-pic.jpg The Law searches to the dividing asunder of joints and marrow, and it is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Its excessive light strikes us like Saul of Tarsus, to the earth, and makes us cry for mercy.

Selling (out) Easter.

Nothing says Happy Resurrection Sunday quite like the following items:

And finally, nothing celebrates the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ like . . .

Quotes (197)

john-macarthur.jpg As always, a war is being waged against the truth. We are on one side or the other. There is no middle ground–no safe zone for the uncommitted. Lately the question of truth itself–what it is and whether we can truly know it at all–has become one of the major points of contention. We also happen to be living in a generation when many so-called Christians have no taste for conflict and contention. Multitudes of biblically and doctrinally malnourished Christians have come to think of controversy as something that should always be avoided, whatever the cost. Sadly, that is what many weak pastors have modeled for them.

Barack Obama’s pastor Jeremiah Wright.

racism.jpgJust when you thought this Trinity Church was as apostate as they come, Chris over at A Little Leaven has posted the following 3-minute video of Barack Obama’s pastor from Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Illinois .

After watching this short video below I had the following questions:

1). Did this guy attend the Fred Phelps school of theology?

2). What chapter and verse is he expositing this racism from? Is he actually preaching out of the Koran?

3). Since the whole message in this video was political, does this mean that TUCC will now have its tax exempt status revoked?

On a side note: Amidst all the weirdness, anger, hate, and shocking words that spewed from Mr. Wright, I noticed three things in this video that may be missed if you’re not looking for them:

1:34 The back of his robe either catches on fire or there are ants crawling up his back. Fortunately two observant men are quick to fix the problem without Mr. Wright missing a beat.
2:22 What’s with the freaky James Brown hot tub dance moves? A little weird for a pastor to do during a “sermon,” or at any time for that matter.
2:38 Get ready, here comes the hypocrisy. After two and a half minutes of bigoted and racist-laden rhetoric, Mr. Wright says that he won’t stoop to their level of “hatred, bigotry, and small mindedness.”

I did some checking into this man and discovered the following myriad of videos.

This news video reveals a whole lot more on Mr. Wright. You may ask yourself after viewing this video, why this man chooses to live in this country.

In the following video advertisement for TUCC, you’ll see Mr. Wright with Barack Obama at 1:46, right after scenes of the dancing costume circus on “stage.”

Jeremiah Wright on Fox. No one will ever accuse Mr. Wright of being quick to listen. I think he forgot who was the host and who was the guest.

And more on the topic.

Quotes (196)

piper-pic.jpg The all-important words are “while we were enemies.” This is when “we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son” (Romans 5:10). While we were enemies. In other words, the first “change” was God’s, not ours. We were still enemies. Not that we were consciously on the warpath. Most people don’t feel conscious hostility to God. The hostility is manifest more subtly with a quiet insubordination and indifference. The Bible describes it like this: “The mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot” (Romans 8:7).

Yoga for Christians?

Dare I say, “In name only?”

Someone sent me this garbage.

yoga.jpg

And then I found Luciferoga Christoga over at A Little Leaven:

yoga-garbage.jpg

Watch this short clip and tell me if your skin doesn’t crawl. Even those with limited discernment abilities should be able to tell there is something very wrong with all this.

So, I answer the question “Yoga for Christians?” with a question: “Why not?” Nowadays anything passes as Christian as long as the label “Christian” is smacked on whatever you’re trying to sell. Once you do that, then voila! It has now been Christianized. Here’s another good example: Praise Moves.

The only question I still have is “Why stop at Yoga?” How about pentagrams for Christians, or beer for Christians, or porn for Christians. Oh, then there’s the New Age for Christians (or did Oprah beat me to that one)?

A blow to homeschooling from the People’s Republic of California.

homeschool.gif Justice H. Walter Croskey said in the court ruling against homeschooling, “Parents do not have a constitutional right to homeschool their children.I didn’t see anything in the constitution about abortion, but that didn’t seem to be a hindrance.

I knew this was coming. It was inevitable as more and more people have chosen to homeschool their children to avoid the brainwashing “socializing” of their kids by the government’s secular worldview. After all, who has a better interest in your own kids than the government?

The government funded education system has less and less control on the indoctrination of your children so the only logical move for them to make was to make it illegal. Honestly, I was beginning to wonder what was taking them so long.
