Another sad example of pragmatic church marketing.

For those who read my previous post on horrendous church ads and billboards (found here), I have one more to add. Behold the following sign which declares this church “Ichabod!”

So my question is this: What is the context of the sign?

1. Beatles-style worship.

2. Beatles-led worship (like this Elvis-led worship).

Or

3. The worship of the Beatles.

  1. I found the following when I was preparing a lesson on discernment–

In a 1982 interview, George Harrison said that by the time Hare Krishna came to England in 1969, “John and I had already gotten a hold of the album Krishna Consciousness. We had played it a lot and liked it.” The interviewer told Harrison: “I don’t think it’s possible to calculate just how many people were turned on to Krishna consciousness by your song ‘My Sweet Lord.‘” Harrison replied, “My idea in ‘My Sweet Lord,’ because it sounded like a ‘pop song,’ was to sneak up on them a bit…by the time it gets to ‘Hare Krishna,’ they’re already hooked, and their foot’s tapping, and they’re already singing along “Hallelujah,” to kind of lull them into a sense of false security. And then suddenly it turns into ‘Hare Krishna,’ and they will all be singing that before they know what’s happened.”

Perhaps this church gathering can devote a message to that wonderful Communist anthem sung by John Lennon:

Imagine there’s no heaven, it’s easy of you try
No hell below us, above us only sky.

Ah yes. A bunch of atheists and eastern mystics. Just the kind of thing God wants to be brought into His house.

  2. Interesting and very sad. I had posted about the same thing a few days ago. I added a link to your picture today.
