ABC News has an article and a video on this guy that is definitely worth checking out. I also found the following video on YouTube (although not as insightful as the ABC News piece, it is telling).
On a side note, because of the increase in false Christs, and the promise from Scripture that in the end times many will come claiming to be Christ and lead many astray, I’ve decided to create a new category called False Christs.
Matthew 24:23-27 says, “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Behold, here is the Christ,’ or ‘There He is,’ do not believe him. For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.”
In the ABC video, at least one guy mentioned how he became convinced this guy was Jesus after the false messiah hugged him. I wonder if that’s a fulfillment of Jesus’ prophecy of the false messiahs being able to perform miracles. Will the miracles Jesus spoke of be more obvious? Was the guy who got hugged just deceived?

How is it that we have so many people all over the world making such sacrifices for false teachings such as this? Why are people willing to invest so much into things that bring forth no fruit whatsoever? On one side we have people giving everything for nothing(as in the video) while here in America we have so called” Christians” that are so possessed with their possessions that the thought of us putting our resources together so that there would be none among us in need, is outrageous! This video just proves that people are hungry for something real, something genuine. They don’t find what they are looking for in todays church so they turn to a cult like this one that has “everything in common”. A cult that loves their leader so much they would not only be hearers of THEIR “word” but also doers of that word. God forgive us for not being followers of Christ, but instead only asking Christ to follow us! We need true conversion, true transformation, set us apart we pray.

What I was surprised was, when she asked him,”Are you Jesus Christ?”, he answered: “It’s not necessary to answer this.”
I truly expected him to have the guts to say that he is.

Dear Max:
Your words ring so true. What you have said is spot on and is the very reason this blog is in existence. Many of us have left the lukewarm churches and are striving for more. Welcome to DefCon. With God’s grace we shall continue to grow in our faith and commitment to the One who gave His all for us.

The Bible does say that if it were possible even the elect would be deceived. Of course, if the elect are reading and studying their Bible like they should be, if they are spending time with the Lord like they should be then they won’t be deceived.
These people obviously not only didn’t find anything in the church that would help them but they didn’t spend time studying the Word of God. The vacuum has to be filled and if the one true God doesn’t fill it then a god of some sort will! How sad in the end because this guy isn’t going to give them lasting joy and peace and definitely NOT going to take away their sins, either.

Hello,
I have some questions… do you know how many false christs have there been… and how many are there currently? How many in North America?
Thank you
Peter

Peter,
Thanks for stopping by. The exact number of false christs will never be known but to God alone. However, any person that seeks to exalt themselves above the Most High God of heaven and earth and then seeks to mislead others into a false way of salvation is a false christ. The Scriptures make clear that the ONLY true way of salvation is by grace through faith alone in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God and very God Himself!

For those who read their Bibles, they know that man is a false Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ “cometh with clouds” “with power and great glory” (Rev. 1:7; Matt. 24:30); “and every eye shall see him” (Rev. 1:7). As Jesus has warned us, He won’t come to some people here, and there, but as Matthew registered (Matthew 24:23-31); when He shall make His appearance, all the world will see Him, because “as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day” (Luke 17:24).
If people don’t know the Scriptures, they will be mislead by false Christs and false prophets, and even by the master of deceit, Satan himself. Of couse this false Christ would not claim that he is Christ, this is what Satan will do, deceiving the world. “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14), “and deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do” (Revelation 13:14). Only those whose feet are planted on the principles of eternal truth will be able to stand in this time of almost universal apostasy, because they keep in mind Isaiah’s admonishment — “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them” (Isaiah 8:20) —; and they will find power in the sign spoken in Exodus 31:12-18.
Although they [false Christs and false prophets] work “with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness” (2 Thessalonians 2:9, 10), they turn people from the law of God. Now, think about this: “Who wants us to be away from God?”. If we read Jesus’ words registered in John 15, we will find out that those who keep Father’s commandments shall abide in His love and in Jesus’.
Satan wants to turn us from the law of God, by saying: “You do not need to keep the commandments. You’re already saved!”. And He is not wrong at all, for yes, you’re saved by grace (Ephesians 2:5, 8). But Jesus says: “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me” (John 14:15).
Behold, Satan is the only one who wants us to be lost, by misleading us to his ways. There’s only one way and this is Jesus Christ (John 14:6). If we accepted Him as our Saviour, we must not remain in sin (Titus 3:11; 1 John 3:6, 8, 9), “for the devil sinneth from the beginning” (1 John 3:6). “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law” (1 John 3:4).
Let’s show the world that we know and love God, and that we love our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ (1 John 5:2). “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus” (Rev. 14:12; 12:17).
