Osteen Waffles on the Gospel!

It is a sad day when some within evangelicalism would classify Joel Osteen as an evangelical Christian. There is no room in Scripture for waffling on the gospel. A person who claims to be a minister of the gospel and yet claim that he doesn’t know whether Jews, Muslims, or Hindus would go to hell if they do not believe in Jesus Christ alone is not worthy to be a minister, and according to Scripture this man is not even a true believer himself. His teaching is nothing short of heresy. True believers, be warned of this wolf in sheep’s clothing. Dr. Steve Lawson does an excellent job addressing Osteen’s waffles.

  1. Do you actually believe that those who do not follow jesus will go to hell? If you do, you are completely delusional. Namaste.

  2. Duart,

This is the amazing truth of the Scripture.

    1. That the ONLY begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ, would even come to this sin cursed earth and be willing to die to pay the penalty for sins in order that the wrath of God would be answered.
    2. That Jesus Christ extends the FREE offer of the gospel to all who will place their faith in Him alone whether Jew, Hindu, Muslim, Catholic, Protestant, Buddhist, or worshiper of sticks and stones in the jungles.
    3. That as the Creator of the Universe, He alone has the right to set the standards and the rules. The standard is perfect holiness without which no man will see God. The rule is that NOBODY gets to God apart from Jesus Christ.

What is actually delusional is that people think they can flaunt their depravity in the face of the holy, righteous God of heaven, that they can work their own way to heaven and be accepted by God, and that they can deny Jesus Christ as the Savior of mankind.

To clarify though, it is not just about “following Jesus.” Salvation comes only when a person places their faith in Christ alone by grace through faith alone, and when that takes place they are brought to the point where they repent and confess their sins. There is no other form, method, or mediator for salvation apart from Jesus Christ.

  3. I don’t understand how people don’t see him for what he is…a heretic! How can they miss that? I am thankful for the grace God has given those of us who can discern. It is by grace only that we see past Osteen’s heresy. It’s just frustrating that others follow him blindly!

  4. Katy, the bible tells us that in ending times people will go to hear what their itching ears want to hear. There is a spirit of delusion that is deceiving most people. You are right that we are blessed that our eyes are open to the truth. I still keep praying for my unsaved loved ones. They might not have time if they do not repent now.

  5. I also remember that moment in Shepherd’s Conference by Steve Lawson. Osteen waffles on the gospel when his theological depth is as thick and flat as a pancake

  7. I’ve heard Osteen confess Christ is his Lord and that he is saved being washed by the Blood of Christ.

No man can do that without the Spirit.

So, I take a view that is generally centered in Hebrews 6: 3 And this we will do if God permits.

I take the view that he will be saved but yet so by fire and his works on earth burnt up. I take the view he is non-confrontational so he errs when it comes to exposing others faults.

Eph. 5:11 Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.

He would be characterized as a very weak brother and not to be regarded seriously. He’s basically immature.

  8. Matt. 7:21-23 ought to put all on notice that public professions that Jesus is Lord can be done apart from the Spirit and apart from saving faith. NOT EVERYONE WHO SAYS TO ME LORD, LORD SHALL ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN….BUT HE WHO DOES THE WILL OF MY FATHER WHO IS IN HEAVEN.
This is a stern caution to all professing believers to examine our fruit and the fruit of others.
In order to do this we must understand what Jesus means concerning…. DOING THE WILL OF MY FATHER…. The Fathers explicit will is revealed in the scriptures and not in dreams and visions in contemplations in spiritual formations in Discovering that you can hear Jesus calling.
To obey the Fathers will we must HEAR HIS SON who’s very words are revealed in the scriptures alone.
