Today, June 14th is Flag Day in America. Many are celebrating with flags being waved, displayed on their cars, or being flown in front of their homes.
For millennium, flags or banners have been waved for many different reasons. But this beautiful hymn from Sovereign Grace reminds me that the banner of Jesus Christ will always wave across His kingdom. As Solomon wrote, “His banner over me is love.”
Truly, our Lord, our King, our Saviour, our Redeemer, our Messiah, our Prince of Peace is worthy of praise. He is glorious above all things.
Glorious
Lord, You are glorious
Shepherd and King, forever You’ll be glorious
Holy and here with us
Let every heart declare that You are glorious
Great reminder. I’ve not heard of Sovereign Grace but it is, indeed, a beautiful hymn. Thanks Mark!

Far too many professing saints spend too much energy on politics, as if this was our home!

Chris, I only recently started listening to their music. It is refreshing to hear hymns of praise that are Christ-honoring in their message and driven by theology instead of seeking to entertain the masses and make them feel better about themselves.

That is true. I think that the focus in pulpits should not be on politics, but should be on lifting high the King of Kings.

It is refreshing, indeed, Mark. I also notice that so many of churches today are more interested in entertaining than in singing songs that have much theological truth in them. The church I attend still has old Hymn books in the pews with songs that contain foundational truths. Why anyone would trade them for before smoke and mirrors and so much repetition is beyond me.
