Dear pastor, preacher, teacher, evangelist:

You are receiving this because someone cares about you and those sitting under your teaching. Apparently the gospel that you are presenting is one that can be best summed up as a social, ear-tickling gospel that will only produce false converts. Please examine what you are teaching in contrast to the Scriptures. Don’t turn a deaf ear to this plea. You are accountable to the souls that sit under your instruction.

Start with number 1.

1). A SIMPLE TEST

If you remain unmoved, go to #2.

2). AN URGENT PLEA

If you remain unmoved, go to #3.

3). AN OPEN REBUKE

If you remain unmoved, may God have mercy on your soul.

Your Joseph Smith blasphemous quote of the day.

joseph_translates.jpg    They shall be heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus Christ. What is it? To inherit the same power, the same glory and the same exaltation, until you arrive at the station of a god, and ascend the throne of eternal power, the same as those who have gone before. What did Jesus do? Why, I do the things I saw my Father do when worlds came rolling into existence. My Father worked out His kingdom with fear and trembling, and I must do the same; and when I get my kingdom, I shall present it to My Father, so that He may obtain kingdom upon kingdom, and it will exalt Him in glory. He will then take a higher exaltation, and I will take His place, and thereby become exalted myself.

ryle.jpg I dwell on these things more because this is an age of reading. There seems no end to the producing of many books, though few of them are really profitable. There seems a rage for cheap printing and publishing. Newspapers of every sort abound, and the tone of some, which have the widest circulation, speaks badly for the taste of the age. Amidst the flood of dangerous reading, I plead for my Master’s book; I call upon you not to forget the book of the soul. Do not let newspapers, novels, and romances be read, while the prophets and Apostles be despised. Do not let the exciting and sensual swallow up your attention, while the edifying and sanctifying can find no place in your mind. Young men, give the Bible the honor due to it every day you live. Whatever you read, read that first. And beware of bad books: there are plenty in this day. Take heed what you read. . . . Value all books in proportion as they are agreeable to Scripture. Those that are nearest to it are the best, and those that are farthest from it, and most contrary to it, the worst.

Your Joseph Smith quote of the day.

joseph_translates.jpg “I prophesy and bear record this morning that all the combined powers of earth and hell shall not and cannot ever overthrow or overcome this boy, for I have a promise from the eternal God.Joseph Smith, History of the Church, Volume 5, Page 554, August 27, 1843.

Joseph Smith was killed less than a year later on June 27, 1844. It certainly didn’t take “all the combined powers of earth and hell” to overthrow and overcome him. Just a few bullets and a two-story window.

Dare I say Joseph Smith uttered a false prophecy?

Hillary Clinton to speak at Rick Warren’s “church.”

rick_warren_and_hillary_clinton.jpg Pro-abortion presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will speak at Rick Warren’s “church” during his global conference on AIDS. I warned you about this conference in this previous post and this previous post. The great falling away has begun!

Crosstalk did a show featuring Brannon House on this topic. To listen, click here. Listen to details from last year’s AIDS conference (in which Barack Obama was a guest) by clicking here.

tozer.jpg   To have found God and still pursue Him is the soul’s paradox of love, scorned indeed by the too-easily-satisfied religionist, but justified in happy experience by the children of the burning heart.

John MacArthur: Ashamed of the Gospel or The Truth War?

I recently finished A.W. Tozer’s Pursuit of God and am starting John Piper’s The Passion of Jesus Christ (Fifty Reasons Why Jesus Came To Die). I am already scheming about which book to sink my teeth into after Piper’s, and am seeking your help.

Pilgrim Radio has been reading John MacArthur’s The Truth War on their weekend edition of Reader’s Choice and what I’ve heard so far has been really intriguing.

So I am asking you guys for your input. If you have read either The Truth War or his earlier Ashamed of the Gospel, I’d like to hear from you. I am interested in reading both and I’d like to hear some reviews from you guys.

yahannan.jpg   If the affluence of America impressed me, the affluence of Christians impressed me even more. The United States has about 5,000 Christian book and gift stores, carrying varieties of products beyond my ability to imagine–and many secular stores also carry religious books. All this while 6,800 of the world’s 13,500 languages are still without a single portion of the Bible published in their own language! In his book My Billion Bible Dream, Rochunga Pudaite says, “Eighty-five percent of all Bibles printed today are in English for the nine percent of the world who read English. Eighty percent of the world’s people have never owned a Bible while Americans have an average of four in every household.”

David Bruce reveals his favorite pro-gay Bible translation and why.

david-bruce.jpg  I recently took some heat over my criticism of David Bruce on such posts as Hollywood Jesus, Church at Louie’s Bar, and this post. My discernment told me long ago that this man was a wolf and, of course, I was subsequently accused of judging him by those who should know better themselves.

Well, now I will let you read a quote for yourself from David Bruce on his recommendation of The Source New Testament. This particular quote was found under the endorsement of the new Gay & Lesbian Bible.

The Source is a bridge over troubled waters. It is real, relevant and astonishingly faithful to the Greek texts. It connects with Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered people as no other translation ever has done. Pick it up, settle back in a comfortable chair, and be prepared to be enraptured by the radical love that God has for all people. It is my translation of choice.” – David Bruce.

He also said in another endorsement that he gives it his “highest recommendation.” And in another endorsement he says “It has become my personal favorite and I take pleasure in making it the translation of choice for HollywoodJesus.com.”

Now I pose the question for those who judged me for discerning him; was I wrong?

Is it any wonder?

In a world where McDonalds and Victoria’s Secrets promotes immodesty, lust, and promiscuity targeted toward kids; when a Christian music performer uses girls dancing in Santa lingerie during a Christmas concert; when so-called “pastors” teach sermons from the pulpit in a series called God Loves Sex with sermons entitled: 1). Seven Minutes in Heaven [**Sex Party**], 2).Stripped Bare, 3). Leather, Whips, and Whipped Cream, 4). What Happens in Vegas Doesn’t Stay in Vegas; and where a steady dose of sex is pumped into music, television, and movies geared toward children, is it any wonder what’s going on when you read the news of 8 and 9 year old boys charged with the rape of an eleven year old girl?

Psalm 5:4-6

The Gay and Lesbian Bible: Now everyone can have a Bible that caters to their lifestyle.

Since we live in the time where what is evil is now called good, and what is good is now called evil, would anyone be surprised at publishers producing “Bibles” that not only affirm, but encourage sin?

Wonder no more!

gay-bible.jpg Introducing the world’s first (that I know of) Gay and Lesbian Bible to encourage all those living in sin to remain living in sin.

queer-bible-commentary.jpg Not only can you get your Gay & Lesbian Bible, but now you can sink deeper into error with the Queer Bible Commentary.

All this has got me wondering; since we live in such an inclusive society, why should we neglect the spiritual needs of other lifestyles? Wouldn’t they feel left out? Because of this, I have a few suggestions for these publishers to consider (in jest of course):

1. The beekeepers who like jazz and jellybeans Bible.

2. The serial murderer’s Bible.

3. The heroin addict Bible.

4. The adultery Bible.

5. The abortionist Bible.

6. The pre-teen who’s confused about their gender Bible.

7. The Poker and Beer-night Bible.

8. The white, middle-aged CPA who lives with his parents and has a secret fascination with Sponge Bob Square Pants Bible.

9. The gambling-addiction binge Bible.

10. The Man Boy Love Association Bible for those who can’t find Jesus saying anything against child molestation.

I welcome your suggestions.

An easy kindergarten lesson in discernment.

So many Christians nowadays lack any degree of discernment, (and subsequently accuse other Christians of being judgmental when they exercise their ability to discern). Because of this vast chasm between those who are reading the same Scriptures, I thought I’d introduce those lacking in this area to their very first lesson in discernment.

Now to those who use discernment daily, this lesson may seem as elementary as counting to 10, but bare with me; this may be very difficult for some. Let’s help guide them along.

Your first lesson will be easy. It involves visual comprehension and very little reading. Scroll through the home page of the Open Door Community Church.

open-door.jpg

Now let’s test that discernment: What is your reaction to this church?

A). I see nothing wrong with this church and would have no problem attending.

B). I can’t make out if this church is good or bad, but as a Christian I don’t dare discern judge.

C). A picture speaks a thousand words.

How did you do?

Mormonism: How spiritual veggies differ from earthly veggies.

Orson Pratt

You’ll never look at your broccoli the same way again!

The celestial vegetables and fruits which grow out of the soil of this redeemed Heaven, constitute the food of the Gods. This food differs from the food derived from the vegetables of a fallen world: the latter are converted into blood, which, circulating in the veins and arteries, produces flesh and bones of a mortal nature, having a constant tendency to decay: while the former, or celestial vegetables, are, when digested in the stomach, converted into a fluid, which, in its nature, is spiritual, and which, circulating in the veins and arteries of the celestial male and female, preserves their tabernacles from decay and death. Earthly vegetables form blood, and blood forms flesh and bones; celestial vegetables, when digested, form a spiritual fluid which gives immortality and eternal life to the organization in which it flows. (Orson Pratt, The Seer, Page 37)

When the world is redeemed, the vegetable creation is redeemed and made new, as well as the animal; and when planted in a celestial soil, each vegetable derives its nourishment therefrom; and the fluid, thus derived, circulates in the pores and cells of the vegetable tabernacle, and preserves it from decay and death; this same fluid, thus circulating, forms a spiritual seed, which planted, grows into a spiritual vegetable; this differs from the parent vegetable, in that it has no tabernacle. This is the origin of the spiritual vegetables in Heaven. These spiritual vegetables are sent from Heaven to the terrestrial worlds, where, like animals they take natural tabernacles, which become food for the sustenance of the natural tabernacles of the animal creation. Thus the spirits of both vegetables and animals are the offspring of male and female parents which have been raised from the dead, or redeemed from a fallen condition, with the world upon which they dwelt. (Orson Pratt, The Seer, Page 38)
