But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:8)

Another verse of Scripture that is bady misused is Rev 3:20…..Behold I stand the door and knock……
My pastor, when he uses this almost every week, follows with, “Jesus is standing at the door of you heart waiting for you to open the door.”
This makes Jesus a begger and puts us in control…….in my humble opinion.
What ever happened to repent and trust alter calls?
Are you going to post more on this series?

Waynedawg,
You are right in what you say. I was posting on Mormonism the other day and it struck me how much the seeker-sensitive churches share in common with them. Makes me cringe and makes my heart heavy. I can’t recall how many times I have seen/heard the whole “Jesus is standing outside the door of your heart in the rain, sodden and cold” thing. These are sad days for evangelicalism if the truth be told and as Paul Washer says one of two things will happen to correct it;
1) Reformation back to the reformational truths- which will likely lead to a split in evangelicalism as happened with the apostate Roman Catholic church in the 16th Century
2)Persecution- yikes….but so be it if needed.
Somethings gonna give somewhere most definitley, although I’m not claiming that that is a “thus says the Lord” statement. But there definitley has to be change. Brother if that is on your heart then confront your pastor in love and ask him to explain himself. We need men of God who will take a stand for the truth. No longer can we say “someone else will say something”.
In Christ
R.P.
