It is my contention that once biblical infallibility is surrendered it leads to the most undesirable consequences. It will end in apostasy at last. It is my opinion that it is next to impossible to stop the process of theological deterioration once inerrancy is abandoned.
– Harold Lindsell
The only concern I have with insisting on biblical infallibility is that we need to specify which Bible we consider infallible. While the formal equivalence English language Bibles are very credible and reliable, they are not – as is no other Bible we have today – infallible.
The autograph is infallible – God’s Word is True. Translations and interpretations bring in some error – many small and insignificant and some large of significant (I give you, “the Message” – gag).
As with discussing “Jesus” with Mormons, we must define the terms that are perhaps so common that we lose their meaning.
