“Self-righteous judgmental ____________.”

The title of this post is an actual quote I found that was referring to Christians. Obviously I’ve removed the inflammatory noun that was clearly an expletive before publishing the quote in this post.

So let’s take a little quiz, shall we? Where do you think I found this quote?

A). An Atheist message board.

B). A Wiccan website.

C). Scrawled on a bathroom wall.

D). A Satanist’s memoir.

E). A professing Christian Church’s website.

  1. I would guess E). A professing Christian Church’s website.

I’ve been told by a self titled “post-modern Christian” that, since I “preach” Truth in my emails that he receives, I have not love. Reminds me of the Charles Barkley video – some folk serve as examples of Scriptural Truth (such as in Romans 1:22).

  2. I have not clicked the link yet to see who said it, but I’m with Manfred……I would say “E” too.

I also have been told this (but not with the curse word) by professing Christians a couple times when I was street witnessing.

  3. I would guess “E”, …the last answer.

Seeing the quote from any of the other sources wouldn’t be noteworthy because its commonplace. Unfortunately in our age, the name “Christian” doesn’t carry much of a distinction anymore.

With the Gospel being redefined by postmodernism and liberalism as it has been, the name Christian has come to mean almost nothing. When a person claims to be Christian, in these days you still have to ask them what they mean by that.

A sad sign of the times.

  4. I thought it had to be E, sadly. I clicked…and I’m not sure how to classify that site. These people are denying they have a Father. I would never apologize like that, I know who my Father in heaven is, so I do not claim to be Fatherless….

So, it makes me think they are actually agnostic. The believe in God possibly, but do not believe He is their Father.

  5. What’s the shock? Only New believers in Christ who have yet to read the New Testament warnings of Jesus, Paul, Peter and John ought to be surprised by such blasphemy from false christians.

I think that instead of wrestling with such heretics, we entrench ourselves in the historic biblical doctrines and lifestyles of godly men and women who is generations past walked with Christ in a manner worthy of their calling.

I know, thats a long sentance, sorry, but here is a comfort from scripture:

2nd Timothy 3:12-17 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Emergent Churches are no threat and in my opinion nothing new. They are just the latest perversion attempt against the true faith.

  6. To all:
Opps, I should have re-read the post more carefully before publishing it it with two “D’s” and no “E.” I hope you all don’t mind, but after fixing it I also took the liberty to edit your comments to reflect the “E.” Otherwise other readers will have no idea what you were talking about.

    Manfred & Waynedawg:
Yes, it is sad when supposed “brothers and sisters” say the harsh things they say when you choose to stand on the Truth. I think they’re oftentimes simply intimidated by anyone who dares to lead a holy life and follow Jesus’ commands.

    Cruci-Fide:
Welcome back; long time no see! Where have you been? You said, “When a person claims to be Christian, in these days you still have to ask them what they mean by that. A sad sign of the times.” How true, how very true.

    Christianlady:
I think they were saying less that they believe in God as Father and more they were simply making a point. An obnoxious, judgmental point, but a point nonetheless.

    Mssc54:
So true. I had to chuckle when I read your comment.

    Anaksbane:
Amen! Thanks for the comment and the encouragement.

  7. Ashamedly I supposed the answer was the final one. I linked to the site and listened to the first sermon I found. Within the first 10 minutes the only thing I learned was that the speaker was a “gay affirming pastor”. Which means that he loves gays and supports their agenda to have civil rights and marriages. This church (using that word loosely here) reminds me of a question once asked of John MacArthur about a church that was teaching heresy and had the same name, Grace Community Church, as the one he pastor’s. His response was that he didn’t have any objections but one. They were using the word “church”.

  8. Hey, Pilgrim…and everyone. Yeah, I’ve been rather busy this past year preparing to enter full-time ministry. In December, I finished being “examined” (interrogated LOL) by my church, and Lord willing, I’ll be ordained on the 25th of this month. So if anyone has any room on their prayer list, I have a great need for God’s continued grace, mercy, and guidance in this new direction. My real name is Bryan btw rather than using “cruci-fide” in prayer.

I’m glad to see DefCon prospering so well with new authors and partnerships. It’s encouraging to see a growing source of God’s truth on the internet where it’s so badly needed.

  9. Meh. Emergent and “seeker-sensitive” people hate doctrinally-inclined, Bible-loving evangelicals. I wished they’d just come out and say it….
