Your sermon of the week is a fantastic discourse on Jesus’ warning to beware of the wolves among the flock entitled How to Recognize False Teachers. This is a great message from Don Green as he sounds a warning to the flock by alerting us on the recognition of false teachers.
If you think he only deals with the obvious false teachers like Joseph Smith, Charles Taze Russell, Jim Jones, and Benny Hinn, think again! Don Green includes the lukewarm pastors who week after week stand behind their pulpit and tell jokes and quaint little stories at the expense of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. A collective “ouch” is heard across America.
This is a must-hear sermon for every Christian who is serious about their faith and concerned about false teachers.
An overall great sermon with an all too typical problematic opening: at the 2 minute mark, Mr. Green says, “Salvation requires a deep repentance, where you turn away from the world, you turn away from sin … turn away from any assertion of self righteousness and you profoundly acknowledge in total abject humility before the God of the universe, ‘I am a sinner who is guilty before You, I turn from that and I embrace Christ as my Lord and Savior, as my only hope of salvation …”
He leaves this “deep repentance” without the foundation of regeneration, with the result that it appears to be something the dad man must do in order to be saved. This type of language is what the “free grace” dispys love to show off as “proof” of a works-based “lordship salvation” that reformers rely on. I don’t know Mr. Green from Adam but I suspect this is not his perspective.
I love how he points out, later in the message, how false teachers are often marked by what hey leave unsaid – specifically the “hard things” of the Gospel. Amen and amen! Would that people who claim Christ AND Joel Osteen would have their eyes opened.

Very good message and one that should be listened to by many people sitting in the pews instead of swallowing the swill being pedaled by many wolves!

Don Green and Phil Johnson are co-pastors of the Grace Life Pulpit, a Bible Study ministry of Grace Community Church.
I’ve personally listened to dozens of hours of Don Green’s preaching, and I can assure you that his teaching is strictly and thoroughly Biblical, and that he is absolutely grounded in the Word (Sola Scriptura), salvation by grace alone (Sola Gratia), through faith alone (Sola Fide), in Jesus Christ alone (Solus Christus), to the praise and glory of God alone (Soli Deo Gloria). As a staff pastor at Grace Community Church Don Green is an expository preacher who affirms that regeneration precedes faith, and he adheres to the Biblical truth of Lordship Salvation, just like his pastor John MacArthur.
I highly encourage DefCon’s readership to investigate the amazing wealth of Christ-centered, sound, Biblical teaching and other God-honoring resources that are made available online by the GraceLife Pulpit and Grace Community Church.
In Christ,

Remember, in 2 Peter 2, we are told that false teachers are in our churches, in our pulpits and in our Bible studies. not in that church over there or that cult over there. The most successful false teachers have some of the biggest churches.
Also, false teachers think they have the answer for everyone else.
