ryle.jpg The Reformation found Englishmen steeped in ignorance and left them in possession of knowledge. It found them blind and left them seeing. It found them without Bibles and left them with a Bible in every parish. It found them priest-ridden and left them enjoying the liberty which Christ bestows. It found them strangers to saving faith, and grace, and holiness and left them with the key to those things in their hands. It found them slaves and left them free.

– J.C. Ryle

  1. It breaks my heart to read this. Because that’s no longer the way it is. Instead it has become greatly reversed. From reading so much from those who visit this site, who attack and oppose the Bereans here that uphold God’s truth, God’s holiness, God’s righteousness, the Authority and Sufficiency of the Scriptures, it is glaringly apparent that God Almighty and His word is unknown to them. They claim to be Christians, but the ways of God, as clearly revealed throughout His word, they do not understand. And it breaks God’s heart as well. But what has been prophesied must come to pass. Let us make the most of the time that we have before the Lord’s return. Let us continue to warn of error, expose false teachers, defend God’s word, proclaim His truth, and pray diligently.

How easy it is to lose focus on our King, and to magnify tradition.
