  3. Anytime I find out anything in regards to Mormonism and present this to someone I know, I’m always met with; “Yeah, but there’s different kinds of Mormonism and it doesn’t apply to the one I know.” How should I reply to such a claim?

    Are there differing denominations in Mormonism that are so drastically different that generalized information concerning Mormonism will not apply to ALL Mormons?

    I don’t mean to get off track or subject here but any help anyone can provide me will be greatly appreciated.

    As far as the piece above is concerned, I agree with another comment on here, who knows if he even saw anything and it wasn’t added later to substantiate his claims. We can say, however, that a tree is known by the fruit that it bears and Joseph Smith bore bad fruit. He may have been influenced by the devil but with the depravity of man as it is, does he really need further assistance to do anything evil? Isn’t he quite capable of doing all of this on his own accord? That’s not, however, to discredit that it was possible that he really did see an “angel of light”.

    The “Yeah, but there’s different kinds of Mormonism and it doesn’t apply to the one I know.” is their way of deflecting away your question and trying to get you to start feeling bad that you would ask such a thing.

    I’m sorry, I should have been more clear in my post. I have a friend that has a family member that is a Mormon and this bothers my friend as well as it should. So as a way of helping my friend, whenver I find out anything in regards to Mormonism and relay it to him/her, my friend tells me that there’s different kinds of Mormonism and behaves as if the information that I found out does not apply to the branch of Mormonism that the family member subscribes to, etc. I’m afraid I know so little about this that I don’t even know good questions to ask when inquiring about Mormonism. At the heart of the matter, do not ALL Mormons hold to a wrong understanding of Jesus?

    Oh you were clear, I just answering the first part of your post. Sorry if I didn’t answer more. That was my bad. =)

    But, yes, all Mormons hold to the wrong understanding of Jesus. That answer of “there are different denominations of Mormonism” is false. I have family that is Mormon and I have been in one of their “temples”. They all still believe the Joseph Smith inspired book of Mormon and all. I’ll tell you that it is the same answer that Seventh Day Adventists give. I know a few that seem to say “Well we don’t subscribe to Ellen G. White’s beliefs, but just ignore the fact that we have some of her works in our home and that the place we get together in still holds to her beliefs”.

    I agree with David T that the basic belief in all branches of Mormonism is defective concerning Jesus.

    Some Mormons do not wish to be called “Mormon” due to certain disagreements with the largest branch “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints”. There are the “Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints”, also called the “Community of Christ”. Another branch is the “Church of Christ spreading the Elijah message”. There are also the “Church of Christ (Temple Lot)”, the “Apostolic United Brethren”, the “Church of Jesus Christ (Bickertonite)”, and the “United Order Effort”.

    It really depends on what you mean by “Mormon,” but I am assuming you are talking about a Utah LDS Mormon, and in that case there aren’t denominations of that branch. There are many splinter denominations of the LDS, though, and I just posted an article on my blog about the RLDS/Community of Christ denomination.

    The fact is that all Mormons do indeed have a false understanding of Christ, especially those in the Utah branch.   10. I was born a Mormon. I lived it for 35 years – What brought be out of this religion was the foundation of this religion. It is quoted in JS writings that he saw the Father, son and holy ghost. He indicated that the Son introduced him to the father and holy ghost. Now, the reality of this is no one has seen the Father’s face and lived, I mean no one. Even G-d’s precious child Abraham and Moses. Moses, conversed w/ him every day voice to voice, Moses asked to see his face, but G-d indicated to him he would be consumed if Moses looked upon his face. So in all reality, if anyone was going to see G-d’s face it would have been Moses. The LDS religion is a wonderful religion of families, friends who are very dedicated to their Prophet and are sheep that are being lead by Satan himself. Once you get up into the LDS church it is very hard to get out, especially if you live in the state of Utah. Sorry, but the truth does hurt. I am still going through alot w/ my family; but little, by little they are leaving me alone about leaving the LDS church. They love me and they feel deeply sorry for my soul, which they think is going to hell.

    Well, I know better because I know that God loves all of us and we will all appear before him and be judged by our hearts and by keeping his commandments- So, don’t worry, God is in control of all matters and peoples lives. He will change all things in a twinkling of an eye for all of us who will live once again w/ him. Religions are about the same, I have been in all of them, just the one who is leading makes the difference – have you excepted Christ and following his commandments? Peace to all, Kate

I’m not sure I understand this…you are taking an ‘Introductory’ statement that references historical events (which of course was written by someone other than JS) and claiming it to be doctrine of the LDS Church? How does this make any sense? Who wrote this introductory statement? I will have to go back and research if JS ever claimed in his own words or if any of his contemporaries who wrote/spoke of JS’s claims to vision or visitation by Moroni whether or not Moroni was ever described as an ‘angel of light’. Did JS himself ever claim that an ‘angel of light’ appeared to him? Can someone who has a verifiable answer clarify for the record please?

  12. Concerning the staements given, if you are a true Christian and believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, then you also believe in ALL the bible and it’s inspired word. The bible speaks of Satan and his demons; therefore, all the bible says must also be true according to our faith. The angel of light exists in the bible and is spoken of by Joseph Smith. Evil exists in our world and this is a report given by a reputable man convinced by Satan that he was doing right in creating Mormonism. After all, Satan is very convincing in his deception given to all mankind and attempts to lead us astray as he wanders the earth with his demons seeking all he may devour (1 Peter 5:8).

  14. If Moroni was an angel why was he born of Mormon Parents? Angels were created by God. Angels have no gender. So what did Joseph Smith really see-an angel of light disguised as Satan.
