The outrageous love of God.

  1. pro·mis·cu·ous (pr -m s ky – s). adj. 1. Having casual sexual relations frequently with different partners; indiscriminate in the choice of sexual partners.

That is this man’s definition of God’s love? Philip Yancey would most assuredly agree.

  2. I respect Lloyd Joens, but to call God’s book-keeping “romantic” is a sign of Greco-Roman humanistic “love”, not biblical love. This fellow – Glenn – strikes me as trying too hard to impress the listener. Why do men emphatically use hyper-adjectives not found in Scripture to describe God or His love for man? Is it to make much of man? That’s how it sounds to me.

  3. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, 9 he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

    Thanks for sharing this, Pilgrim.

The indescribable weight of the glory of God is perhaps most clearly demonstrated before men and angels in His infinitely perfect love for His Son, and those who are in Him by grace alone through faith alone.

    How should we then live?

    In Christ,

  4. Narrowly defined, I would agree. But here are all the definitions:

    “- adjective
characterized by or involving indiscriminate mingling or association, especially having sexual relations with a number of partners on a casual basis.
consisting of parts, elements, or individuals of different kinds brought together without order.
    indiscriminate; without discrimination.
    casual; irregular; haphazard.”

I cannot fathom that the speaker meant this in the worst of terms.
