Just to clarify if there are any questions, Defending Contending will NOT endorse any candidate in this election. Both candidates hold positions that defy the laws of God. This is not about the economy, Benghazi, lies, treason, their lack of theology, or anything apart from following the Scriptures when it comes to making decisions that will impact our lives as we stand before God.
Good for you, Mark. I stand with you in your decision and am proud of your convictions to remain true to God.

Not at all my friend.
It’s tough to stand firm sometimes, especially when “friends and brothers” are pressuring you to “talk sense”.
Stand strong, those who will be voting for Trump will see their folly in time.

Every election in our nations history has been between two sinners.
Why have so many chosen to take a stand In this election, at this critical juncture?
America got to this place due in part to Christians avoiding impacting politics.
Why are so many so determined to invite death to the Constitution and to America?
Rebellious God hating atheism is at the core of the liberal progressive left wing movement.
If you hate sin then why help elect the party that glorifies sin and open defiance of Gods will?
They are the friends and willing allies of the devil himself.
I believe, as did the earliest church fathers that the church will go through the great tribulation.
It is one thing to accept it but quite another to willfully help to hasten it.
God did not always call morally perfect men to carry out His will.
Look at the moral failings of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Look at the moral failings of Moses and Aaron.
look at the moral failings of His chosen judges. Look at the moral failings of His chosen Kings.
Look at the moral failings of Christ’s disciples and Saul of Tarsus.
If your holding out for Job, Daniel and Noah to run for president, good luck.
I had better stop. I just deleted my over the top closing statement

Hi Lyn, great article. I posted it on my site. Hopefully those who are tender to the voice of God will turn from their foolishness and not be caught up in false patriotism. For the Gospel!

Hi Paul
Yes, the article was so relevant to what we are presently going through in this nation. I recently had a ‘Christian’ tell me I was a wicked servant because I choose not to vote, another informed me I am bringing on the judgment of God by not voting. I was also informed it is my duty to vote! This madness will soon end, praise God!

I just watched a video by a pastor who actually said that his voting had nothing to do with being a pastor. It was separate. It reminds me of something Barney Fife said one time on an Andy Griffith show. “When is a lawman really off duty?”
When is a Christian not a Christian? When are we not supposed to be an example? Voting for Trump’s policies and not for Trump is rubbish. That’s like watching a movie full of nudity and violence and praising the acting in it and ignoring the other.
The funny thing is this: when you hear people tout Trump’s stance on different subjects, it sounds eerily similar to how people were praising Obama when he was running.
If people don’t learn from the past, they will be doomed to repeat it.

In this mornings news, Todd Starnes reports that the state of Georgia has demanded that a lay pastor turn over his sermons and sermon notes for preaching about homosexuality from the bible.
What amazes me is that so many with so much spiritual discernment are so politically oblivious to the progressives goals and dirty manipulative propaganda tricks.
With 3 or 4 possible Supreme Court justices appointments for the winner of this upcoming election expect America to go the way of Canada and Europe. That is for certain if Jezebel and Ahab get back into the Whitehouse.
Expect Stalinist tactics by the state against the adopted children of God.
When we are all doing time in jail like Bunyon and Bonhoffer. When this and all other Apologetic web pages are eliminated when federal fines for hate crimes have bankrupted you when Muslim mobs are terrorizing your families, don’t worry be happy. For you did not sully your soul by voting. So much for onward Christian soldiers marching as to war.
The fact that my previous comment is not posted simply illustrates how easily you too can be gagged and silenced by the haters of Jesus.

I am a firm believer that Christians in America should be informed and vote as appropriate; while we are pilgrims, we are also called to do our jobs and duties while wandering through this life, and U.S. citizens have been appointed as a part of the government by virtue of voting.
Curiously enough, in my home state, the law explicitly defines registered voters as a branch of government, with the ability to make and overturn laws by referendum and initiative.
As such, voting for president is not the same as voting for a pastor. If we are to vote for elected officials the same way as voting for elders, then we should also stop non-Christians from voting, as only Christians are allowed to be involved in appointing elders. The choices being what they are, we are often forced to make the least bad choice. If one candidate is even fractionally better than the other, we should go with the better one. And yes, this means that we choose the “Abortion only for rape” candidate over the “Abortion on demand with no apology” candidate.
Some would argue that choosing the lesser evil is still choosing evil, but that argument is pointless here because … there is no lesser evil to choose.
Trump has been backing Hillary Clinton as recently as 2012. I do not believe for a second that Trump is any better than Clinton. If I did believe that he was even marginally better, I’d hold my nose and vote for him. I believe that he would support abortion on demand, illegal immigration amnesty, and far left Supreme Court justices, as he has done so up until he started being taken seriously as a Republican candidate.

The problem is not with whether you choose to vote, or even what you feel. We can be a “firm believer” in something, but that doesn’t make it true. True believers have a responsibility to remember that this world is not their home, and that first and foremost, we are to exalt Christ with everything we say or do. Throughout this entire election debacle, I have heard a lot of arguments but I have not seen one argument that is fully and finally based on Scriptures. Lots of emotion, lots of feelings, and lots of choose the lesser of two evils, but little to no Scripture.

So, voting will stop persecution? Voting will end abortion? I wonder why so many assume some kind of utopia will overtake America IF we all just get out and vote.
The political agenda groundwork has already been laid, this nation is moving towards judgment. Can we thwart what is coming by voting?
I believe prayer is the right choice, and men who proclaim God’s truth with the unction of the Holy Spirit are greatly needed at this late hour. For those who think voting is necessary, then by all means vote. I am not worried about ‘sullying my soul’, both candidates are so corrupt and vile I see no benefit it selecting either. Clinton has no desire to uphold the constitution and Trump isn’t aware what’s in it…

There’s our answer, isn’t? Trump supported Clinton until he started running against her.
He’s a successful billionaire for a reason. He’s a salesman. He knows how to give the public what they want to hear. He will change and forget his empty promises. This has happened with basically every president and world leader that has come and gone.
If you want to be voted in, you become all things to all men. He’s a shining ambassador for the mainstream church today. He will represent them until he’s elected, and then look out.

From the Letters of John Newton
The whole system of my politics is summed up in this one verse, “The Lord reigns! Let the nations tremble!” Psalm 99:1
The times look awfully dark indeed; and as the clouds grow thicker–the stupidity of the nation seems proportionally to increase. If the Lord had not a remnant here, I would have very formidable apprehensions. But He loves His children; some are sighing and mourning before Him, and I am sure He hears their sighs, and sees their tears. I trust there is mercy in store for us at the bottom; but I expect a shaking time before things get into a right channel–before we are humbled, and are taught to give Him the glory.
The state of the nation, the state of the churches–both are deplorable! Those who should be praying–are disputing and fighting among themselves! Alas! how many professors are more concerned for the mistakes of government–than for their own sins!
