Debate: Mariology – Who is Mary according to Scripture?

When you build a theology on pagan goddess worship, man’s traditions, a dead religion of works, and arguing from silence, you will always lose the debate when faced with God’s Word.

  1. Wow. Considering the Jesuits are the spetsnaz of the cult of Rome, this fella is a major FAIL! He sputters and stammers and hides behind the skirts of “our lady”. Of course, when defending deception and doctrines of demons, one is hard pressed to stand firm on Truth. Cecil, on the other hand, kept bringing up the Word of God – in context – as his defense; his accent didn’t hurt, either 🙂

  2. Excellent work in revealing the Truth, and I was raised Catholic albeit a nominal Catholic. I did drink holy water once…tasted like fingers!

By the way, for the proof of Mary’s sin, I would simply point him to Mark 3:21 for she went after Jesus thinking He was out of His mind, think “Who are my mother and brothers…” Unbelief in Him and His work is sin!

  3. Mickey – it would be even better to also point them to verse 31, wherein she is named explicitly – tying her into the scene as part of “the family”.

  4. Oh, then you understand of what I speak. Good for you Manfred! By the way, I went to OUR LADY of Mount Carmel (or is it Caramel) either way, I could never make the connection between the two.

By the way, roseries made really cool looking chain neck ware back in the day, but them scapulas (not the shoulder blade the necklace) were really kind of wierd! Oh and the big white bibles full of pictures of dead people named Linus (not from Peanuts comics the other one) Kleenix (I think) Clemus, Sixthus, Cosomos (not Cramer) and Damian (no comment).
I had a Timex watch that every Sunday at 12:00 mass, about 12:15 the minute hand would link up with the second hand and run real fast…freaked folks out, but the priest said I didn’t need anything other then exercised or something like that. I was all for getting out of there and playing more myself!

Mickey – I went to ‘our lady queen of heaven’ until 5th grade. Imagine when I got saved and read in jeremiah that the idolaters were baking cakes for their idol god named the queen of heaven… yikes.

  6. Finally got around to watching; kinda wish I hadn’t!

My dear mother died in 1978 (a very difficult death) as a roman catholic. “The church” – utterly ruined her life; guilt beyond measure as well as a myriad of other problems to numerous to mention! Although I had been a Christian only a short time, I did what I could to persuade her otherwise, but to no avail.

At her funereal was a young priest who presided over the burial and pronounced the final words that brought service to a close. I won’t elaborate here, but suffice it to say, the words he spoke nearly destroyed my father (at that moment) who was already in agony. Although I did all I could to console him, the loss of the woman he loved along with the vile, inconceivable words of torment spoken that day by the priest brought his life to an end two years later. From that point on (and after much study) it was clear to me that catholicism was as false a system as any ever conceived. I feel Cecil did a great job citing scripture at every turn to debunk -all- the priest had to say.

Posts like this one are vital and serve to worn those who may be trapped in the “system” or just have questions concerning the veracity of scripture (v catholic dogma) and the LIE that is the roman catholic church.

  7. Manfred, there are some problems with what you said:

First, not every priest or Christian or whoever, is a good debater. I have seen this first hand on both sides, whether Protestant or Catholic.

Second, we stand on the Word of God, we are the true “bible Christians.”

Third, to refer to Jesuits as the spetnaz of the Church of Rome, is a complete joke and shows your lack of History. I take it, you have never studied Church History, albeit, expect perhaps the Jack Chick Variety.

Yes, your mother, the church is certainly mentioned in the Bible:

Revelation 17:3 And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was full of blasphemous names, and it had seven heads and ten horns. The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and jewels and pearls, holding in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her sexual immorality. And on her forehead was written a name of mystery: “Babylon the great, mother of prostitutes and of earth’s abominations.” And I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. When I saw her, I marveled greatly.

  9. Keith – I see you are a Roman Catholic watchdog who has been prowling around this site defending the cult of seven hills. I’ve studied mucho church history and theology and a) I know the truth about the divide between Rome and the Christian Church and b) you won’t be convinced by any arguments of us. Please with the Creator God, not the imitation god worshiped by Rome, for ears to hear and the gift or repentance and faith in the biblical Jesus.

  10. So, Mary was fully human? Christ was fully human AND fully God! Which is why He was able to atone for our sins! If there is no divinity, how can there be perfection? And did this priest just say he would “castigate” God Almighty for the way He “left” his church!
    castigate |ˈkastəˌgāt|
    verb [ trans. ] formal
    reprimand (someone) severely

He presumes to severely reprimand the One through whom everything was created?! The arrogance. Doctrines of demons! God help them!

Wonderful to hear the Word of God being used to tear down lofty things raised up against the knowledge of God.

2Cor. 10:5 We are destroying speculations and every alofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the bobedience of Christ,

  11. You might find it difficult to understand the teachings of the church if you are not catholic. I don’t need conviction by mere twist and turns of the scripture. Catholic faith was not built on myths but on the word of God .It might take you a whole generation to understand whom Mary is because of your hardness of heart. So many protestants have joined the catholic faith after an encounter with Mary. if you have a sincere doubt borne out of ignorance, I bet you, Mary will lead you to a deeper understanding of the truth. you can’t be catholic if you are not catholic.

  12. Attah, it would be just as difficult to understand the false teachings of the JWs, the Mormons, or Islam if you do not already belong to one of those belief systems. That does not make them any more true than the false teaching that the Catholic faith is ONLY built on the Word of God.

Traditions, creeds, and idolatry makes up the vast majority of your belief system. If “so many protestants joined the catholic faith after an encounter with Mary”, then it is safe to state that they never really had a true encounter with the God of the Bible. Mary will never lead you to a deeper understanding of truth because that also flies in the face of biblical doctrine. NOT even the Holy Spirit speaks of Himself, but points to Jesus Christ.
