For those who have never suffered under the bondage of the Word of Faith extension of the Charasmatic movement (that I and many others have been delivered from) you need to know that it’s not all about naming it and claiming it, begging for money, speaking in tongues, being slain in the spirit, (fake) healings, (false) prophecies, and dancing in the aisles; sometimes they actually teach from the Bible . . . and that’s when it really gets scary.
In the following clip Jesse Duplantis shamelessly ‘twists‘ Scripture to make God look less knowledgeable and powerful than He is, and conversely makes man look more knowledgeable and powerful than he is. (Those who have come out of this heretical movement know all too well that these wolves are infamous for bringing God down and raising man up.)
In a nutshell this is four minutes of absolute foolishness and is a perfect example of awful hermeneutics and complete biblical illiteracy. But hey, he sure does tickle ears, doesn’t he?

This video is a “classic”. My wife was dumbfound by it. It is absurd to the point of being funny. What’s really bad is that the audience is eating it up.
This may be even better than his “trip to heaven”. Where he said that some of the scriptures is not inspired by God. He said something to the extent that David wished that he would have let God move through him more when he was writing the Psalms instead of just him writing about his troubles. I would have to get the book out to quote him exactly.

I totally agree with you, Shane. Especially: “What’s really bad is that the audience is eating it up.” And that’s really the killer, isn’t it? Guys like this will bear their judgment. But who’s keeping all the false teachers in the pulpits? The church people. Far too many church people accept whatever the preacher says. They support, laugh along, and “amen” at all the false teaching, believing what they are taught, no matter how ridiculously distorted. It’s symptomatic of the sorry state of contemporary Christendom.

It reminds me of the last church I went to in the charismatic/pentecostal movement. The Sunday school teacher was talking about angels telling God when you do something bad. He was saying that is how God knows what is going on in a persons life. One of the things he said was “angels will squeal on you.” LOLOLOL
My wife and I asked the pastor if he heard what the guy said. The way he answered us I don’t think he did or it didn’t register. Even other people we asked that day didn’t “hear it” or they didn’t find anything wrong with it. I was going to call the guy out on it but, we ended up leaving the church before I got a chance.
That was another of the reasons that brought me out of that movement.

Tragically, it’s not just confined to the Charismatic/Pentecostal movement, but over a wide range of churches. More and more it seems, people practice selective hearing. And the irony is, what so many who claim the name of Christ are selecting NOT to hear, are the things their precious teachers are saying that do not square with the whole of the word of God. It’s a very big blow to the ego to admit, even to oneself, that they could possibly have been wrong (perhaps for years). So rather than admit one’s own mistakes in “discernment”, it’s just easier to ignore, or attack, the messenger, than to give an honest assessment of the error that the messenger is exposing. I’ve seen in the comments given on this site over a wide range of issues, that what really hits a nerve is when Defcon touches the sacred calfs that people have chosen to put their faith in. Emotional attachment seems to win out every time over reasoning from the Scriptures.

Is there no end to the STUPID lengths men pleasing heretics will go? “Mannequins”? Where did that come from? Like most fools, Jesse puts full stock in a wrong definition of an English word (brought) and presents it as TRUTH.
Anybody who swallows this or any other spurious teaching from DuPlantis, et. al. is as much as asking for God to reach out and kill them where they sit.

I can’t even watch this guy on t.v.! He is such a HERETIC!! The sad thing is that so many people are falling for his twisted message. My husband and I attended Pentacostal churches for many years. Thank God He opened our eyes to the truth!

Awww come on now guys. He tells jokes and makes people laugh. He has seen angels, been miraculously been stransported from location to another, and even been to heaven!!!!!! He must be a man of God. No minister of Satan could do these things. Plus look at how much money his ministry makes. God is really blessing him.

Wow… with all this talk of speaking spirits I wonder what prophetic comedian Duplantis would do with Balaam’s talking donkey? Did the donkey speak life into things as well? Unbelievable!
I do believe that our Sovereign Lord places heretics like this in the world as a form of judgment on not only the heretics but all those who flock to them to have their ears tickled.
Duplantis needs to step down from the “pulpit” and become a professional comedian in the same way Osteen needs to step down from the pulpit and be a professional motivational speaker.
May we pray that the Lord will send true workers out into the harvest with the true Gospel of Jesus Christ!

As a college student in a philosophy recently pointed (my wife is an interpreter who sometimes works in local colleges) to the prof who referred to Osteen as a pastor, in passing – “Osteen isn’t a pastor. A pastor preaches the gospel of Jesus Christ. Joel Osteen doesn’t preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. He’s only a motivational speaker!”
My wife is prohibited from joining in on such repartee, but she was jumping up and down on the inside 🙂
Paul Washer is correct in saying that “pastors” such as these are likely God’s judgment on the churches that embrace them.

Where is the fear of the Lord? It is so grievous to me that, as watching the video, I see no trembling at His Word. Quite the opposite. We should be fearful for him and the state of his soul.
That is one of the reasons I had to quit watching Joyce Meyers years ago….her lack of reverence and humility and arrogance and the lack of respect for God and His Word as evidenced by her choice of words and her actions. God has very much shown me the word faith movement is not true. You are right in that when sharing this discovery with a friend, she wanted nothing to do with my assessment. I pray for her that God would open her eyes. It didn’t kill me to find out, by His mercy, that what I had been taught was indeed not the truth..I survived, it didn’t “ruin my ego” so to speak as I didn’t care about such things. God will give strength to those seeking His Truth.

Talk about the “dumbing down” of society by television……Jessie DuPlantis has got to be one of the most perfect examples of the dumbest-of-the-dumb dumbing down the “church.” And really, can any group of gathered people that would listen and support this garbage be considered “church.” I couldn’t even watch the whole video. Even to surf past TBN and find him on the set is nauseating. Talk about arrogance! It’s all over him as he tries to bring God down to man’s level. HERESY!

A fella I worked with a dozen years ago was at that time a HUGE fan of JD. I showed this friend some outrageous quotes of JD and he had his understanding opened up and quite supporting or believing JD.
Then he joined the circus called Fellowship of DFW with Ed Young, Jr. After 7 years of that madness, he left that as well.
The Lord is able to open the understanding of his children – and even pagans (don’t forget Abimelech in Gen 20).
Praise the Lord for His mercy on undeserving people!

Wow. He’s not even a good liar. I am amazed at the things that are preached and the way people fall for them. (I was one too.) But this guy – it’s so obvious. There IS something man can’t do – preach with honesty and integrity. Did you see the way he skipped over verse 5 in the Babel story? It’s right there – But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons had built. Not imagined Jesse – BUILT. ooohhhh….

JD is a heretic. What a blasphemous teaching. In his teaching God is bought down lower than man. Man even gives life as well as telling God what the animals are. Scripture twisting at it’s worse. The goats sit there loving it, as it validates their view of scripture that God is here to bless, serve and give every desire to man. Disgusting. JD is a liar, suppressing the truth in unrighteousness.

In each video you can see the PRIDE coming from this man, look what I found in the Bible that no one ever has found.
We had a Pastor like this who would cook-up a new doctrine every Sunday and twist the scriptures to impress us with some new teaching. I was not impressed.
In the second video Jesse uses the Lords’ name in vain.

It appears that one of DefCon’s contributing editors jumped the gun and posted additional videos of Mr. Duplantis, one of which I had in the pipe ready to be posted today or tomorrow.

Also, on a related note to Mr. Duplantis’ “discovery” of new doctrine, there is one major flaw that he has in his theory.
You see, God gave Adam dominion over the earth (including the animals). How could God give dominion over something unless He already had dominion over that which He gave? He wouldn’t have the ability to give the right of dominion over something unless He already had that dominion Himself. You can’t give what you don’t have.
And furthermore, if God fails to have dominion or even knowledge over even one part of His creation, then does He not fail to be God?

This guy definitely is trying to cook up new doctrines or so it seems! I’ve only watched 2 short clips and already he’s trying to take God’s glory and give it to man. I take it he doesn’t realize or doesn’t care that God will NOT give HIS glory to another! I know a true man of God will remember that he will answer to God for what he teaches AND in the manner he teaches it. There was another post on Defcon where Pilgrim thanked pastors. What a blessing it is when men truly seek to serve the Lord and not come up with their own doctrine just to bring more people in or get more money!

I never would thought he was a pentecostals because my Pastor dose not come close to preach like him.
Its foolish to say GOD could not give life and names to animals becasue he sure did it for Adam. When he was saying Adam had the power to do something that God did not, I thought he was a denomination that teaches about becoming a god.

One observation I will share with all is to cue you in on how laughter is used by those who want to manipulate and deceive. This video clip being a perfect example of such a technique.
If you watch the video closely, you will see how JD uses laughter to break down the audience’s initial response to his heresy which he knows would be less than welcoming. Thus, he cannot present this as just a dry, cold teaching, but instead must make it more palatable. This being done by the mixing in of joking and laughter. And it is through this that he will manipulate his audience to break down their defenses and get them to open up and hear what he has to present next.
After this is accomplished the forces of peer pressure and his elevated station on the platform seal it where nary a peep will be heard from the audience. Even from those who may not be agreeing with what he is saying. For they will in no way risk the verbal lashing and angry stares they would receive if they were to stand up to protest this doctrine.
The other problem of course is where one man is the only one in the entire congregation who is duly authorized to speak from the “pulpit” and must never be interrupted during his speech/sermon/ramblings. Because of this and our training from youth, we know as good congregants that we must not speak when the pastor is speaking, even if he is preaching rank heresy.
The stage and platform further abet this silencing of the audience as we also have been trained in secular society that in such a setting when attending conferences, plays, etc., we must be silent. All that we as the attendees are permitted to contribute are our tears, laughter and applause.
And so we should not be surprised in the least how heresy can so easily spread amongst people who not only should know better, but, at least for some, often do know better. And once the leaven takes root in their heart and congregation, eventually the entire lump becomes leavened where they have been turned from the truth unto a lie having their eyes blinded and their consciences seared.

Yvonne hit the bullseye by quoting Deut. 13:1-3, praise God for this biblical truth. Also, a great observation has been brought to the surface by brother Michael in regards to laughter. I’d just like to add the passage referencing to the strong delusion sent by God because lost sinners refuse to love the truth {2 Thess. 2:11}. God turns them over to wolves like Duplantis as part of His judgment; He’s giving them exactly what they want. How horrifying will it be for these lost souls on the final day of judgment, it is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

I struggle with a certain sin and temptation. Before you judge me for believing in the message Jesse Duplantis has let me tell you that unless you can offer me the power to live victoriously in this world there is no way I would go to one of your churches. Tell me why I should go to a church that just believes to hold out until Jesus comes back but in the meantime suffer everyday with sin, sickness, or poverty or “whatever the Lord’s will is” because you know, sometimes God does, sometimes he doesn’t? The just shall live by faith. Unless faith is specifically for the here and now, for the life we live in this world right now, then there’s no application for it today.
What are you going to do when the storms of this world come crashing into your home? What are you going to do when temptation strikes? You believe that you can walk uprightly and not fall into temptation…unless you have Power you will fall. Don’t judge me if I struggle with a certain sin, because sin is no respecter of persons and it could come knocking on your door too. What are you going to do when sickness or poverty or disaster strikes? Are you going to say, well let the Lord’s will be done, or will faith rise up within you to take hold of the situation and overcome?
How are you supposed to have the fearless confidence that God will do what he says he will do for you, if sometimes He does and sometimes He doesn’t or that He brought something bad your way (like temptation, sickness etc…) to teach you something? Bah, even for someone like me that doesn’t know a whole lot, I’d rather believe that good things come from God and bad things come from the devil. Sorry but you can keep your traditions and haggling about doctrines; unless you can demonstrate the power of God in your churches to deliver people, set them free, see them well, see them prosperous so that they can give, I’d never set my foot in one of your churches.

Come to our church in the projects, where we have seen people delivered from prostitution, homelessness, addiction to drugs, and all other sorts of sins–people whose faith has brought them through many trials and tests of their faith–and tell THEM they’re not living victoriously, just because they don’t drive a Benz. Come and talk to my brother in Christ who used to deal drugs and walked around strapped with guns–but gave all that up for Christ, and lived under a set of abandonded bleachers for 8 months rather than go back to that old lifestyle. Tell HIM why he “doesn’t have enough faith.”
If you saw the “valleys of the shadow of death” that God has brought these people through, they would make your “faith” look pathetic. Why? Because you aren’t comfortable unless you have all of your material needs met right here, right now–as if the Cross is an ATM, and God is nothing more than your personal Divine Step-And-Fetch-It.
Sorry, but your God is too small, too weak, and too safe. And your “gospel” promises nothing.

It’s funny how people don’t here what Jesse is teaching. He is limitting the God that created everything. He is saying that the God that knows the hairs on your head, that knows the names of the stars, that sits outside time and space doesn’t even know what kind of animals He made.
I remember going to those types of churches that were “alive with power”. Women falling out under the spirit only to have their dress or skirt fly up to expose themselves, people staggering around like they had just come out of a bar or in the middle of a three day drunk, and not to mention the total chaos of the service. The Jesus that they preached that was a weakling that couldnt’ even hold onto those that are His. The God they preached that was at our demand to fulfill our desires. (the great vending machine in the sky) The Holy Spirit that could be manipulated and thrown around like chi energy or was treated as an impersonable force like the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
It’s great to know that God is in control of everything.

It is good that you have those testimonies in your church. I don’t deny the validity of those testimonies or your church. I apologize for posting what I did but it frustrates me to see these kinds of websites that seemingly exist to tear other people down. I digress that I got angry and posted what I should not have posted.

We don’t exist to “tear people down,” but rather to expose the wolves that have crept in among the flock. Jesse Duplantis is one of those wolves. And we use “the weapons of our warfare” to “tear down strongholds and every high things that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.” And we will not stand idly by while men like Jesse Duplantis blaspheme the Lord our God, and His Christ. We will not worship a god who is of man’s design, who is so weak and feeble that He can be bossed around by sinful men–a god who only exists to meet our earthly needs. If that’s the god you worship, then you truly do worship a pathetic god. (And yes, I did use lower-case ‘g’ to describe the god you worship).
2nd Timothy 3:10-11–But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me.

I was talking to a guy at work yesterday and we go to talking about Jesse Duplantis. He said he like Jesse. I said o really. I began to tell him that JD is a false teacher and what he said in this series of videos. He seemed to agree with me. Then I told him about this. This is a quote from one of JD’s books. This is JD talking to David.
“I asked him how he got his ideas for his songs because I know that muscians get ideas from all kinds of creative ways.
“From the Lord,” he answered. We both laughed again.
He continued, “I did write songs of my experiences, like a lot of other people do. But the better ones are when I allowed the lordship of God in me to come out more than the trouble I spoke about.”
He didn’t say this, but I knew that he meant that some people picked up his truouble as something they had to go through, too. But what he was saying was that when he allowed God to come through him, he was able to write anointed messages like, The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” page100 Heaven Close encounters of the God kind
“when he allowed God” Sounds to me like he is saying that some of David’s writings are not inspired. He agreed that if that is the case then how do you know what part of the Bible is inspired and what part is not.
This book is a goldmine. A recommended read for some entertainment and to see some of the things JD teaches.

All of you hypocrites out there who say otherwise should just let it be and be blinded. “What does the bible say?” The book says everything that came out of his mouth. Question what the bible says, you’re questioning the word of the living God.
