The White Horse Inn: Assuming the Gospel.

The hosts are firing on all cylinders again, this time on the topic of whether or not too many pastors and churches assume their sheep know and understand the gospel (and thus, whether their sheep are really sheep). I especially recommend this episode, Assuming the Gospel, to those in preaching/teaching positions.

Episode description:

What is the most important thing people need to regularly hear from the pulpit? Are churches guilty of assuming the gospel? These are some of the questions we put to pastors at a recent convention, and on this broadcast of the White Horse Inn the hosts will discuss these matters and interact with the results from our polls.

The White Horse Inn: Joel Osteen – A Case Study in American Religion.

On this episode of The White Horse Inn, the guys discuss Joel Osteen – A Case Study in American Religion. Here’s the details:

Why is Joel Osteen so popular? Is he a faithful representative of the Christian faith, or is his message more about self-help and personal motivation? On this edition of the White Horse Inn, the hosts will examine the theology of this bestselling author as they continue their series “Christless Christianity.”

How to witness to a Jehovah’s Witness.

ray-comfort.jpg In this 14 minute audio clip from Way of the Master Radio (WOTMR), Todd Friel plays an audio clip of Ray Comfort witnessing to a Jehovah’s Witness who came to his door. This was not a dramatization nor a reenactment, but the actual conversation recorded as it happened.

It was a great discourse and the gospel was shared so simply yet profoundly that this same approach could be applied to anyone else in any other false religion. I strongly encourage you to listen to this short clip.

Crosstalk: Barnes & Nobles hits children with gay porn.

Ingrid Schlueter (of Slice of Laodicea and Hope in Laodicea) and her guest Brannon Howse (of Worldview Weekend) discuss the call for a boycott of Barnes & Nobles after several disturbing incidents occurred recently across the nation. Listen to this shocking podcast here and read what happened when Brannon Howse took his eleven year-old son into his local B&N on June 5th here.

Crosstalk: Christians, Affluenza, and the Coming Economic Crisis

Ingrid Schlueter of Slice of Laodicea and Hope in Laodicea hosts this edition of CrossTalk in which she discusses the coming demise of the affluence of America and how years of unbridled affluence has affected the Church. Listen to Christians, Affluenza, and the Coming Economic Crisis here. You can also see her blog post on Affluenza here, and read the show description below:

Today the average garage size for a new American home is 900 square feet. That was the size of the average American home in the 1950’s. Some spas are offering facials, manicures and massages for youngsters. Some businesses are offering exotic location birthday parties for kids.

It’s this unsustainable addiction to economic growth, materialism, overconsumption, waste, and the constant desire for more that is the basis for this edition of Crosstalk. Ingrid calls this attitude, Affluenza, from the title of a book published back in 1998.

Has this hedonistic mindset entered the church? Have you felt the pressure to “keep up with the Jones’s?”

This Crosstalk takes a look at these questions and more while reminding Christians to keep an attitude of contentment amidst the consumption craziness and ever rising prices.

Crosstalk: Todd Bentley’s Lakeland Revival.

The White Horse Inn: Radical Informality

On this edition of the White Horse Inn the guys discuss the issue of Radical Informality in life, in church, and in the pulpit.

Show description: Previous generations wore suits to baseball games. Now many Americans show up at church in blue jeans and T-shirts. How has the cultural shift toward informality affected American Christianity over the last few decades? Join the White Horse Inn hosts as they evaluate the effects of “radical informality” on contemporary Christian thought and practice.

The White Horse Inn: The Case for Theology and Apologetics.

On these two episode of The White Horse Inn, the guys discuss The Case for Theology and Apologetics. These episodes feature more man-on-the-street interviews of pastors from a pastor’s convention in which their answers to questions and “excuses” may surprise you.

The countless errors, false doctrines, and utterly embarrassing biblical illiteracy running rampant in Christendom can be directly traced to the lack of teaching and shepherding of the flock that the average American pastor is avoiding. This was a great discussion and a must-hear for pastors.

The Case for Theology and Apologetics 1: How important is it to know what you believe and why you believe it? Should the average Christian be informed about doctrines like justification and propitiation, or are those only for academic types? On this edition of the program the hosts discuss these question and interact with some on-the-street polls taken at a recent pastors convention.

The Case for Theology and Apologetics 2: On this edition of the White Horse Inn the hosts continue to interact with recent polls taken at a pastors convention on the importance of understanding theology and Biblical terminology. They also respond to the great number of pastors who preferred the sharing of one’s personal testimony over the use of apologetics to reach outsiders.

Crosstalk: Rob Bell and his modern day Tower of Babel.

Ingrid Schlueter of Slice of Laodicea and Hope in Laodicea hosts this edition of CrossTalk with guest Chris Roseborough of A Little Leaven and Extreme Theology. They discuss Rob Bell and his recent appearance (i.e. endorsement) at an inter-faith (i.e. modern-day Tower of Babel) event called Seeds of Compassion.

Emergent Leaders Join Dali Lama at Interspiritual Event.

The White Horse Inn: Shallow Waters.

This is a great episode of The White Horse Inn entitled Shallow Waters. Here’s more on this episode:

How deep is your faith? Has the faith “once and for all delivered to the saints” been dumbed-down in contemporary churches? On this edition of the program, the hosts discuss the shallow nature of both American Culture generally, and contemporary Christian faith and practice more specifically.

Certainly a message that many need to hear.

Standing up to Dawkins.

David Quinn (a Catholic commentator and journalist from Ireland) makes Richard Dawkins (Atheism’s best of the best) lose his cool in the following audio clip from Way of the Master Radio. I am certain that you will enjoy this 16 minute audio clip.
