DefCon is delighted to bring to you this week’s sermon, The Gospel Revolution in Love by Pastor Akash Sant Singh. This two-part sermon is wonderfully encouraging, yet deeply convicting. The text for this message comes from 1 Thessalonians 4:9-10 and will prove to challenge you.

Sermon of the week: “Dismantling Easy Believism” by Todd Musser.
Your sermon of the week is a good one by Todd Musser entitled Dismantling Easy Believism. In this message, Musser makes the following three critical points from Ezekiel 18:
– There is no victim mentality when it comes to spiritual things.
– There is no works righteousness.
– Do you have fire insurance or full assurance?

Sermon of the week: “Three Reasons to Fear God” by John MacArthur.
Your sermon of the week is Three Reasons to Fear God by John MacArthur.
MacArthur begins this sermon by asking those in attendance what they would preach if they had one opportunity to speak in the largest church. He then reveals that when Jesus preached to the largest audience He had, He preached on the subject of Hell; something not even conceived of by most of today’s pastors.
Saturday Sermon Series: “The Fear of God” (Parts 1 – 3 of 9) by Albert Martin.
In addition to DefCon’s weekly sermon of the week (posted every Thursday), we occasionally feature a Saturday Sermon Series.
For the next three Saturdays we are pleased to present a nine-part series (three parts a week) by Albert N. Martin on the fear of God.
This is a powerful message that every Christian can benefit from.

Sermon of the week: “Dangers of Calvinism – The Danger of Pride” by John Scheffer.
Someone was finally bold enough to address one of the greatest causes for people to reject the Doctrines of Grace: proud, combative, and caustic Calvinists. John Scheffer boldly goes where few will dare in his candid message Dangers of Calvinism: The Danger of Pride.
Sermon of the week: “Closet Calvinists – Why Arminians Pre-Suppose the Doctrines of Grace” by Phil Johnson.

Sermon of the week: “The Grim Reality of the Last Days” by John MacArthur.
Your sermon of the week is The Grim Reality of the Last Days by John MacArthur. This is not a topic Joel Osteen would dare touch, and it’s definitely not a message for the faint-hearted.
Mike Ratliff had this to say about this sermon:
John MacArthur preached something I had never heard before, which compared the eschatology of Islam with that of the Book of Revelation from our Bible. The main character in Islam’s eschatology is called the Mahdi. Also, according [to] their eschatology, Allah sends Jesus back to Earth to serve as the Mahdi’s greatest servant to convert the world to Islam. John MacArthur shows in his sermon how all of this lines up with the Antichrist and the False Prophet. Toward the end of their reign on earth, a false prophet comes to earth who opposes them and there is a great war. In Muslim eschatology, they win and this false prophet is overthrown, but as we know in the book of Revelation, This “false prophet” is the real Jesus Christ who will win that war. My summary pales in comparison to Dr. MacArthur’s fine sermon. I suggest you listen to it.
Sermon of the week: “Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness” by Phil Johnson.
Your sermon of the week is Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness by Phil Johnson. This is the next installment of Johnson’s series on the Ten Commandments that is being featured on DefCon every other week as your Sermon of the Week (on Thursdays).
Sermon of the week: “The Shockwave of the Gospel” by Akash Sant Singh.
Your sermon of the week is one you won’t want to miss. In The Shockwave of the Gospel, Pastor Akash Sant Singh steps on toes and pulls no punches as he explains that in order to impact our family, friends, neighbors, community, city, nation, and world for Christ, we must:
1). Love the Gospel
2). Preach the Gospel
3). Live a life that’s consistent with the Gospel.
Sermon of the week: “Thou Shalt Not Steal” by Phil Johnson.
Your sermon of the week is Thou Shalt Not Steal by Phil Johnson. This is the next installment of Johnson’s series on the Ten Commandments that is being featured on DefCon every other week as your Sermon of the Week (on Thursdays).
Sermon of the week: “Evaluating Youth Ministry – An Abolitionist’s View ” by Voddie Baucham.
Are you a YMA (youth ministry abolitionist)? Perhaps after listening to this sermon by Voddie Baucham, entitled Evaluating Youth Ministry: An Abolitionist’s View, you too will join the growing ranks of those who are abandoning the train wreck known as youth ministry and return to a family integrated model of biblical worship.
In this message delivered at the 2009 Sufficiency of Scripture Conference, Voddie outlines his three main objections to youth ministry as:
1). Age-segregated youth ministry usurps legitimate authority and responsibility.
2). Age-segregated youth ministry has not accomplished its own stated goals.
3). There is no clear biblical mandate for the current model of age-segregated youth ministry; it simply doesn’t exist. We don’t have our current model of age-segregated youth ministry because we went to the Bible and the Bible showed us clearly that this is how discipleship ought to be accomplished.
If you’re looking for additional information on the utter failure of (and the lack of any biblical teaching, example or precedent for) youth ministry, then check out the following sampling:

Authority in the Church
We now turn to the fifth message in Pastor Mbewe’s 6-part series on biblical Submission and authority, based on 1 Peter. You can find the previous posts here. As way of reminder, Pastor Mbewe is the
current pastor of Kabwata Reformed Baptist Church in Lusaka, Zambia, Africa. He is widely regarded as the African Spurgeon. KBC is presently overseeing the establishment of ten new Reformed churches in Zambia and Botswana. Conrad is the editor of Reformation Zambia magazine and writes three columns in two weekly national newspapers. His most recent contribution to a book is found in Dear Timothy—Letters on Pastoral Ministry, published by Founders Press. He is also the principal of the Reformed Baptist Preachers College in Zambia. He blogs at A Letter from Kabwata.
Today’s message is about the biblical model for the exercise of and submission to authority within the church. May everyone professing Christ as Savior submit to the Word of God – for the good of His people and the glory of His name.
Sermon of the week: “The Rise and Fall of the World” by John MacArthur.
Your sermon of the week is The Rise and Fall of the World by John MacArthur from his study in the book of Daniel.

Submission and Authority in the Home
Conrad Mbewe continues his exposition of biblical submission and exercise of authority, based on 1 Peter. This message – #4 of 6 – focuses on the family. We see here that rebellion against parents is not a narrow issue which one can work around. As with proper teaching about the broad intent and
application of the 10 Commandments, biblical instruction about our responsibility to submit to God’s Word is comprehensive and our ability to obey is wretched. Hence, the Word convicts us of our need of Christ, in every area of our lives.
Sermon of the week: “Thou Shalt Not Kill” by Phil Johnson.
Your sermon of the week is Thou Shalt Not Kill by Phil Johnson. This is the next installment of Johnson’s series on the Ten Commandments that is being featured on DefCon every other week as your Sermon of the Week (on Thursdays).
