Wal-Mart now sells cult literature.

A few days ago I entered the book section of a local Wal-Mart and was shocked to see a large section of books on Mormonism. And no, this Wal-Mart was not in Utah.

I then checked the internet and discovered they even sell Mormonism’s plagiarized piece of fiction known as the Book of Mormon online. (To understand more about the Book of Mormon check out this excellent documentary.)

I never thought I’d see the day when a major retailer would carry cult literature. I suppose this isn’t much of stretch for Wal-Mart, though. They’ve been selling Rick Warren, Joel Osteen, and Joyce Meyer for years.

I wonder if the Jehovah’s Witnesses will demand their place on Wal-Mart’s bookshelves next.

Hinn defends Hinn.

Benny Hinn attempts to defend himself . . . he doesn’t do such a good job.

From Justin Taylor:

Just in case you need a refresher on the numbers, here’s some of what they found on an expense report:

  • cost of his 7,000 sq-ft house: $10-million
  • amount spent per month for his private jet: $112,000
  • price of his two cars: $80,000 each
  • cost per night for staying at 5,400 sq ft luxury hotel room during a “layover”: $10,800 per night paid
  • tips for a 3-day period: $4,500.

What would your church do with $130,000,000.00?

Apparently First Baptist Dallas has chosen to spend that amount of money on a church building. Of course, had this news come out sooner I would have certainly included it in my post How To Know If Your Church Isn’t Spending Enough On Missions.

Here’s a quote from The Church Report article on this $130 million dollar church project:

DALLAS,TX– The congregation of First Baptist Church Dallas today overwhelmingly affirmed recommended plans to proceed with a $130 million capital campaign to build an expansive new 1.5 million square foot, state-of-the-art campus, making it the largest church building program in modern history, according to church fundraising experts.

The CrossTalk Blog quotes house-church pastor, Ken Eastburn who hits the proverbial nail on the head:

“If the church is to be God’s plan for the world, the vessel by which the Good News of his redemption spreads, we are going to need to learn how to reach out to culture without becoming it. Expensive buildings don’t scream ‘we have been redeemed,’ they scream, ‘we are just like you.’ And that certainly isn’t the message that Jesus was nailed to a cross for.”

Pastor Ken Eastburn also lists on his blog some of the amenities that this new church building is expecting to have:

  • 1.5 million square feet
  • LEED certified (its green and energy efficient)
  • Glass structure
  • Stone water tower topped with a luminescent cross
  • Common area for downtown residents and guests
  • 3,000 seat worship center (on the second story)
  • 7 high-definition screens
  • Choir and Orchestra pit
  • Senior adult education center (under the sanctuary)
  • 300-space underground parking garage
  • 6-story education building for children/youth ministries
  • 2 side-by-side gymnasiums
  • Children’s play areas
  • Outdoor concert space
  • Adjacent parking garage with 500-plus parking spaces

After pondering yet another example of the staggering excess of American Christianity, this story would not be complete without directing your attention to the short video on this previous DefCon post (a video that I have not been able to bring myself to watching twice). It serves to do the above story justice by way of a necessary comparison and a much needed, sobering, priority-correcting, reality check.

Not content with lowering the educational bar, one public school was selling grades.

Yet one more reason to support your local home school: a public school in North Carolina was actually selling grades. It reminds me of the Roman Catholic organization who sells indulgences; but I digress.

Here’s a quote from the news article:

“To my mind, it’s the integrity of the educational enterprise that’s at stake here,” said Daniel Wueste, director of the Rutland Institute for Ethics.

I’m sorry to report, Daniel, but you’re a little late. The integrity of government education was lost a long time ago.

Book review: “The Marketing of Evil” by David Kupelian.

The Marketing of EvilI just completed a page-turner that I highly recommend to the readers of DefCon. David Kupelian’s provocative missive The Marketing of Evil: How Radicals, Elitists, And Pseudo-Experts Sell Us Corruption Disguised As Freedom, takes you behind the scenes of how the media, entertainment, and politicians drive the culture and how they not only shape how the masses think, but also what to think.

If you ever wanted to know how sodomy went from a commonly shunned taboo (i.e. a sin) to now not only being accepted as normal, but those who dare to speak against it considered the new outcasts of society, you have to read this book.

If you ever wanted to know how our society can decry the atrocities of the Nazi Holocaust while simultaneously accepting and condoning the barbaric dismemberment of their own children under the guise of “freedom of choice,” you have to read this book.

Recommended to me by a friend, I found this book to be shocking, riveting, compelling, and impossible to put down.

Although I can’t recommend this book enough, I do caution some readers that the material dealt with can be disturbing at times and even profanity is present in the section dealing with the hip-hop culture’s grasp on our youth.

Former abortion providers speak.

Mexico Abortion

I am currently reading a riveting book by WordNetDaily managing editor, David Kupelian, entitled The Marketing of Evil. I am reading the chapter on abortion in which many former abortion providers (who have turned from their barbaric torture and dismemberment of innocent children) have revealed what the abominable abortion movement actually does to our most innocent and defenseless class of citizens. Here are a few very disturbing quotes from the book:

“Saline abortions have to be done in the hospital because of complications that can arise,” says ob-gyn staffer Debra Henry. . . . “The saline, a salt solution, is injected into the woman’s sac and the baby swallows it. The baby starts dying a slow, violent death. The mother feels everything, and many times it is at this point when she realizes that she really has a live baby inside of her, because the baby starts fighting violently for his or her life. He’s just fighting inside because he’s burning.”

“One night a lady delivered, and I was called in to see her because she was uncontrollable,” said David Brewer, M.D., of Glen Ellyn, Illinois. . . . “I went into the room, and she was going to pieces; she was having a nervous breakdown, screaming and thrashing. . . . I walked in, and here was her little saline abortion baby kicking. It had been born alive, and was kicking and moving for a little while before it finally died of those terrible burns, because the salt solution gets into the lungs and burns the lungs too.”

“I’ll tell you one thing about D&E abortions,” lamented Anthony Levantino. “You never have to worry about a baby’s [sic] being born alive. I won’t describe D&E other than to say, as a doctor, you are sitting there tearing, and I mean tearing–you need a lot of strength to do it–arms and legs off babies and putting them in a stack on top of a table.”

“Psychologically,” noted [Carol] Everett, “the doctors always sized the baby at ‘twenty-four weeks.’ However, we did an abortion on one baby I feel was almost full-term. The baby’s muscle structure was so strong that it would not come apart. The baby died when the doctor pulled the head off the body.”

“There are no words to describe how bad it really is,” added Carol Everett. “I’ve seen sonograms of the baby pulling away from the instruments as they are introduced into the vagina.”

If you know anyone who’s considering an abortion, please, forward them the link to this post and/or buy them the book The Marketing of Evil and have them read chapter 9 on abortion. It very well may save the life of that child.

David KupelianIt takes an incredible amount of effort and energy on the part of the news media to maintain such an obviously outrageous suspension of reality. But what would happen if the press reported accurately, objectively, and courageously on the Middle East conflict? Media reports would reflect, truthfully, that Israel is a Western democracy surrounded by dozens of backward, repressive, terror-supporting Arab police states dedicated to Israel’s annihilation. They’d show that the Nobel Peace Prize-winning Arafat was the father of modern terrorism. They’d show that the so-called Palestinian problem was cynically created for the precise purpose of eliminating the Jewish state by deception. The media would reveal that the Palestinian leadership is not now, nor has it ever been, interested in a separate Palestinian state next to Israel, but rather, in taking over all of Israel.

A change of heart.

Abortion Death Penalty

The former director of a Planned Parenthood clinic in southeast Texas says she had a “change of heart” after watching an abortion last month — and she quit her job and joined a pro-life group in praying outside the facility.

And we wonder why the pro-abortion zealots go absolutely out of their minds when pictures of murdered babies are displayed by pro-life activists. Actually seeing what happens to the most innocent and defenseless class of our society when a woman enacts her “right” to murder her child tends to change people.

Will the Mormon church be able to stop NASA’s attack on the moon people?

Mormon MoonWith NASA’s planned bombing of the moon this Friday (see the news article here), I have to ask again (as I did last year when the announcement was first made), Will the Mormon church be able to stop NASA’s planned assault of the moon?

Since Mormon leaders have taught that the moon is populated (along with the sun), I anticipate that the LDS church will vehemently protest this planned attack on the moon. I expect to see the LDS church publicly confront NASA on their disregard for human life and their insensitivity to the inhabitants of the moon.

This NASA experiment has the potential to not only harm the human inhabitants of the moon, but if the moon dwellers are growing any of those spiritual LDS vegetables, those crops and their entire agricultural infrastructure are sure to be decimated as well.

Can the LDS save the moon people and spiritual veggies in time? If they don’t take a stand here and now Kolob may be next!

Phillip Garrido: Liar, adulterer, sex offender, kidnapper, pedophile, rapist, religion blogger.

Phillip Garrido

Phillip Garrido–the registered sex offender who kept Jaycee Lee Dugard at his compound for 18 years after kidnapping her in 1991 and fathering her two children–was apparently a religious man who wrote on his blog Voices Revealed:

. . . the Creator has given me the ability to speak in the tongue of angels in order to provide a wake-up call that will in time include the salvation of the entire world.

Now of course the Atheists are having a field day with this. “See,” they say, “all religion is bad and should be outlawed.” They use anomalies like this to indict all religions (and specifically Christianity) while ignoring the wholesale slaughter of millions of people under Atheist regimes like Lenin, Stalin, Zedong, etc. But this is nothing new, and this post is not about Atheists.

No, this post is a contemplation of the visible church of the West. Like those professing Christians that defend every lowbrow act, every worldly entanglement, and ever heresy found in American Churchianty with the proclamation, “Judge Not!” (brutally ripped from its Scriptural context of course), who then hold their tongues when faced with someone like Garrido (or even Fred Phelps) lest they be revealed as hypocrites for judging these men.

Then there are those who are willing to judge this man as a non-Christian, yet sadly they will be no better off than him on Judgment Day. Many of which will be absolutely appalled and aghast that I dared to say such a thing because they’re “good” churchgoing people who’ve asked Jesus into their hearts and have never kidnapped anyone, so surely they’re not going to end up in the same place as Mr. Garrido.

Yet the very reason this man stands condemned before God is the very same reason all mankind stands condemned before God (see John 3:18 and John 3:36). Those who have truly repented of their sins and put their trust in the living Savior (which is evidenced by a changed life) will find themselves receiving a gift they do not deserve from a God who they were once hostile to. Yet He loved us enough to crush His own Son and offer Him as a substitute for the wrath and judgment we justly deserve.

There are millions of people that think they’re going to Heaven because they haven’t killed anyone and because they’ve repeated the “sinner’s prayer,” while this man is going to Hell because he’s obviously a fraud who did a very bad thing. Those who think this way are in for a surprise because millions of people who attend church every Sunday will find themselves standing before Jesus Christ on that Last Day knowing immediately that something is not right. They will make their petitions but only hear “depart from Me, I never knew you” (Matthew 7:21-23). And Mr. Garrido will not be standing next to them for a comparison or for them to point their finger at and say, “See, I’m better than him.” You will stand alone, having to give an account for your life and all those sins you’ve committed, even the secret ones you think no one knows about.

Don’t be deceived: It was “only” one sin in the garden of Eden that was enough to cast Adam and Eve out of the Garden and usher in sin, death, and judgment upon all mankind, how much more wrath do you think you’re storing up for yourselves for the day of judgment with your daily sins?

Every one of us is born into sin and every one of us lives a life of sin. We have all sinned and all our hearts are desperately sick. We are all condemned from the start, deserving nothing but God’s righteous judgment. It is only by God’s grace–and His grace alone–that anyone is saved at all. And it’s only those who trust in His Son’s complete and finished sacrifice that will find themselves escaping the wrath to come.

Don’t think this is so much an indictment as it is a plea to examine yourselves to see if you’re truly in the faith because our Lord warned us to:

Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Mr. Garrido is a sick, sick man.

Mr. Garrido is a sinner.

Mr Garrido claims to believe in God.

Mr Garrido is a religious fraud.

Mr. Garrido claims to have turned his life around but shows no evidence of it.

Mr. Garrido is biblically illiterate.

Mr. Garrido sounds like most people in church on any given Sunday.

The controversial shirt.

Going Going Gone There’s an interesting story coming out of California in which a student’s freedom of speech was obstructed by the public school she attends. Apparently she wore a pro-life t-shirt to school and was forced to remove it. The “offensive” shirt contained two pictures of a baby growing in the womb but this is apparently too much for the public school to handle. The picture heading this post was what was on the girl’s shirt.

Ironically, these same images are found in the school’s textbooks and are acceptable in that context, however, when they’re displayed on a shirt accompanied with a pro-life message, then the images magically become offensive.

One of the girl’s lawyers, Mark A. Thiel, said that the images on her shirt of a fetus in the womb were same as those in her science textbooks. He said no student had complained about the shirt, and he said the girl’s parents were not called when the incident took place.

So was it really the images that the school found so offensive, or was it the message, and the images were only the excuse? I think the answer is obvious.

What’s equally amazing to me is that the author, Maxim Lott, in this news piece had this to say:

The shirt the girl was wearing displays two graphic pictures of a fetus growing in the womb.

Oh, how far we have fallen in our “enlightened” society when gratuitous sex and violence are portrayed on a daily basis (in music, movies, television, books, video games, and even t-shirts) and is considered acceptable, but the beautiful pictures of the miracle of life as it grows in the womb is now referred to as “graphic pictures.”

Woe unto us, woe unto us indeed.

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes And clever in their own sight!

– Isaiah 5:20-21

Two questions in the wake of George Tiller’s demise.

Throwing BabyThis past Sunday morning abortionist George Tiller was gunned down in his church where he served as an usher (that’s another whole issue). In the wake of this event, the pro-life groups have quickly worked on damage control in an attempt to make it known to the world that they disapprove of Tiller’s murder. So much so, I’m afraid, that it seems to be the overarching theme of all their commentaries and interviews on the issue, overshadowing the legacy of death this wicked man left behind. Resulting in (yet again) all the focus of the abortion debate being diverted to everything but the countless babies victimized by this horrific evil.

While the pro-lifers are busy making every effort to show just how virtuous they are by denouncing Tiller’s death, the pro-abortionists, on the other hand, are gearing up to capitalize on this event by:

* Using it as a distraction from the ever-increasing body count of babies murdered in this country at the hands of Tiller and others like him.

* Exploiting Tiller’s death to help enact legislation for the censorship and even criminalization of any views that oppose this barbaric “right.”

* Gaining the sympathy (and thus changing public opinion) of the masses of lemmings (most of which are eligible to vote) who don’t question what they’re told or know how to think for themselves, but instead prefer to be told what to think via such outlets as the evening news.

So I pose a question for those on the pro-life side and a question for those on the pro-death side:

For the pro-life community who are falling all over each other to denounce this killer’s murder, I have the following question: Would you have been–with equal fervor–so anxious to be the loudest voice denouncing the murder of say . . . Heinrich Himmler, Josef Mengele, Adolf Hitler (or any others directly involved in the Nazi death camps) had they been stopped by a gunman?

And for the pro-abortion community who’s currently lamenting Tiller’s murder, I have this question: How would you feel if George Tiller, instead of being killed in church, had instead been murdered in his mother’s womb by an abortionist?

And now, the “witch goat.”

witch-goat-of-nigeria From the same country plunged into spiritual darkness that brought you the heart-wrenching sad stories of The Witch Children of Africa, now Nigeria has a goat held in custody for car theft.

Why?

Because they believe the goat is a man who–by the power of witchcraft–transformed himself into the goat to avoid capture.

Where does Rick Warren go from here?

rick-warren Now that Rick Warren’s inauguration prayer has been examined and exposed by discerning Christians as nothing more than honoring God with his lips, and that same prayer has also angered the unbelieving left, where does he go from here? His prayer was a watershed event that has brought him to a fork in his broad road.

The man who has contributed more to the mile-wide, inch-deep church than anyone else alive today by compromising Biblical truths and blurring the lines between things of God and things of this world has a big decision ahead of him. If human nature and history are any barometer of what’s to come, then we should expect to see Mr. Warren continue to drift leftward ever so swiftly.

As Ingrid Sclueter so aptly observes:

“Rick Warren is faced with the fact that he is either going to have to state that all paths lead to God or confirm, unequivocally, that Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father. If he explicitly states that Christ is the only way, he will no longer be welcomed in the halls of political power, and he can forget any further snugglefests at the White House, the Council on Foreign Relations, the UN, and Davos.

As it stands now, he really pleases nobody. Straddling a fence gets really uncomfortable after a time. I predict that Warren is going to make a sharp move left theologically very shortly for this very reason. The Purpose-Driven machine has gone about as far as it’s going to go with his present approach. Just as Warren was willing to remove negative statements about homosexuality and church membership at the Saddleback site, he is, without doubt, going to have to delete even more material to move ahead to the rest of his spiritual program for the world.”

Franklin Graham follows in his father’s footsteps of compromise.

franlkin-graham I found the following piece from Ingrid Schlueter over at Slice of Laodicea. I’ve reprinted it below in it’s entirety.

Franklin Graham finds it “ludicrous” that any Christian could object to Rick Warren invoking God’s blessing on Barack Obama and his administration. Frankly, I find it ludicrous that any Christian would even consider asking for God to bless a man who has sworn to defend child-killing and homosexual rights. As Joseph Farah put it, God isn’t going to bless that no matter what Warren intones at the inauguration.

The Graham family has made a practice of speaking smooth, silky, easy messages to U.S. Presidents. There is no John Knox blood running in the Graham veins. There is no John the Baptist precedent from that quarter. When a President campaigns on a platform built on the bones of the preborn, it is the moral obligation of all Christians to cry out. Someone who claims to be a minister of the Gospel has an even greater responsibility to confront evil and to defend the helpless. The Grahams have refused to do that and the bloodshed continues.

It would have been a horrendous thing to have a Christian believer pray an invocation for Hitler and his murderous leaders who killed 6 million Jews. It is equally monstrous to think that a Christian minister today would pray an invocation for the murderous leaders who have overseen the butchery of 50 million American babies. Franklin Graham, we’re not going to remain silent in the face of Warren’s treachery, now or ever.

Seven Canadian students suspended for refusing to be indoctrinated.

canadian-flag

WorldNetDaily is reporting that:

Seven Christian students in Quebec have been handed suspensions in the last few days – and could face expulsions – for refusing to participate in a new mandatory Ethics and Religious Culture course that, according to a critic, is a “superficial mishmash of trendy theoretical platitudes” with the goal of convincing children that “all religions – including pagan animism and cults – are equally ‘true.'”
